Ibn Abbas (RA) reports that the Prophet (saw) said

Othman (RA) reports that the Prophet (SAW) said:

"Whoever builds for Allah (SWT) a Masjid, seeking by it Allah's grace, Allah (SWT) will build for him a house in Paradise."

This is related by Al-Bukhari and Muslim

Building a Masjid is a prophetic and Islamic tradition of Muslim communities. In addition to providing a serene environment for performing salat and contemplation, the Masjid is a gathering place for Muslims where they strengthen their allegiance to Islam.

The New Westminster Islamic Society is to provide these activities to the Muslim community in the New Westminster and its surrounding areas. Like others, this community is also united in a common goal, to build a Masjid for all

A Masjid is a house of Allah. The NWMIS Masjid is for all Muslims. Islam is a religion to be practiced collectively and is more rewarding when practiced by all.

The NWMIS currently offers some activities through its rented Masallah in 100-110 Braid Street, New Westminster. Insa-Allah, the proposed Masjid will boaden the activities and will be the center for all islamic activities. This Masjid inshallah will offer:

  A center for learning the Quran and sunnah
  
• 
  Islamic education for children
  
• 
  Community based Islamic events such as Iftar and Eid festivals, marriages, and Aqeeqa ceremonies
  
• 
  Dawa’h services to propagate Islamic values and guidance, to promote unity
  
• 
  Interaction between Muslims and other faiths
  
• 
  A center for charitable, recreational, and other Islamic counselling services
  
• 
  Facilitate activities for women and youth
  
• 
  Burial information and graveyard assistance

The NWMIS has adopted a pragmatic approach to build a Masjid within the vicinity of the city of New Westminster with an estimated budget of about $2.0 million.
The Society looks forward to receiving donations from all Muslims. Donating money to build a Masjid for the sake of Allah is a Sadaqah Jariah (continued Charity) meaning the reward will continue to reach the donor even after death.
As such, the Society hopes to finance

the project from:

  Fund raising dinners
  
• 
  Receiving generous donations
  

from Muslim community

• 
  Borrowing money under Islamic law
