Explanation
The Government will provide $3m in 2000-01 to support the Games Volunteer Program; assist in meeting the costs of an anti-doping program; and to assist in the purchase of other Commonwealth services at the 2001 Goodwill Games in Brisbane. The Goodwill Games are a major event for the city of Brisbane. As at the 2000 Sydney Games, the contribution of volunteers will be an integral part of the overall success of the Games. Support for a drug testing program appropriate to the size of the Games further demonstrates the Government’s commitment to Tough on Drugs in Sport.
