OUTCOME 2 — RESOURCING
Table 2.1.2 shows how the 2001-02 appropriations translate to total resourcing for outcome 2 including administered expenses, revenue from government (appropriation), revenue from other sources, and the total price of outputs. Cell references C2, E2 and I2 show the links back to Table 1.1, the Appropriations Table.

OUTCOME 2 — CONTRIBUTION OF OUTPUTS
Australia has a diverse, pluralistic and decentralised science, technology and innovation system. In this context, the Government’s policy approach is to create the conditions to foster innovation and to focus on current deficiencies in the science and innovation system. These include the need to:
-
increase the level of business research and development and of innovation in industry;
-
improve commercialisation of research;
-
further build international science and innovation linkages; and
-
improve the uptake of leading-edge technology.
The outputs to achieve outcome 2 are described in Table 2.2.2, which provides information on the strategies chosen to deliver outcome 2 and shows the links between the outputs and the outcome.
