In order to deliver the Federal Government’s vision of a more Active Australia, the ASC will drive expansion of the participation base at local, club and school levels where possible with involvement of NSOs and contracted partnerships with the private sector. The ASC undertakes to deliver increased levels of participation across all age groups and especially among young people, indigenous Australians and people with disabilities.
NSO funding contracts will require that they become partners for increased grassroots sports participation and highly successful junior sports programs will be replicated across the nation at the grass roots level in collaboration with mass participation sports including our football codes, cricket, netball, basketball, softball, baseball, tennis, lawn bowls, swimming and athletics.
The ASC will also work with larger participation sports and private sector partners in regional and remote locations – wherever possible through the volunteer networks of existing local sporting clubs to deliver significantly increased grass roots participation for all Australians.
The ASC will also work cooperatively with the Australian Olympic Committee and the Australian Sports Drug Agency to deliver an Australian Olympic youth leadership program to inspire the ethics of personal achievement and fairplay among school aged children.
