National Standards Commission

Major objectives of the National Standards Commission (NSC) in 2001-02 include:

• 
  implementation of legal metrology systems for the control of electricity, water and gas meters;
  
• 
  construction of a national testing facility for compressed natural gas dispensers;
  
• 
  establishment of trade measurement infrastructure for wine and grain quality parameters;
  
• 
  • coordination of a national trade measurement training program expansion of training resources;
  
• 
  • ongoing provision of pattern approval testing and calibration services to meet industry demand;
  
• 
  finalisation of agreements with selected overseas laboratories for mutual recognition of pattern approval test reports; and
  
• 
  commencement of a national pattern compliance auditing program.
