In 2001-02 the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) will:
provide government, industry and the community with high quality scientific information relevant to the effective use and protection of Australia’s marine resources;
produce a book commissioned by the CRC: Reef Research Centre that synthesises available knowledge on the nutrient status and water quality within the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. The book will emphasise the contribution of terrestrial runoff to water quality and document all evidence for recent change. The target audience is natural resource managers and informed public; and
complete a project for the construction of a new wing, a major step in the refurbishment of the Institute’s laboratories.
