Mathematical Modeling Of Induction Heating
In this study, a mathematical model of coupled heat transfer and electromagnetic phenomena for induction heating a of semi-infinite space by a current sheet and a single turn coil field sources has been described and analytical solutions for both problems are derived. Air on semi-infinite space is assumed to be stationary, effect of thermal radiation and displacement currents are neglected. Eddy current induced by the field source was calculated from the electromagnetic solution and used as the heat source for thermal solution. Electromagnetic solutions for time harmonic case were obtained by solving Maxwell's equations in three adjacent regions. Thermal solutions were derived by solving heat conduction equation in two adjacent regions one of which hase heat source. Integral transform, separation of variables and eigenfunction expansion methods were used in solutions. Analytical expressions of electric field and temperature field at semi-infinite space have been obtained for both problems.
