Purpose of the Study: The aim of this study is to examine the future expectations of Selcuk University Health Management students within the concept of anxiety. Materials and Methods: Simple random sampling method and quantitative research design were used in the study. The questionnaire used in the research was created by Kaya (2013) and the Cronbach's Alpha value of the questionnaire used was found to be 0.831. The universe of the research was formed in 2016-2017 academic year by the students who were educated in Selcuk University Health Sciences Faculty Health Management Department. The sample size is set to 240. Findings: %57.1 of the students who participated in the survey do not believe that they can find a job immediately when they graduate, %73.8 think that those who graduated from their department are difficult to find job, %60.9 think that the education they are receiving is inadequate in the application part. %63.3 of participants who participating in the survey believe that their goals can be achieved, %53.8 believe they will get what they want in the future, and %67.1 believe they will be happy in the future. Conclusion: According to the results of the research, a significant difference was found between future expectant and gender. According to this, the expectation of the men is more positive than the ladies. The expectation at the class level is that the first grade students are more hopeful and the third grade students are desperate.

Key Words:

Health Management, Future Expectation, University Students, Faculty of Health Sciences

This work was produced from “Change Of Publıc Hospıtal Structure On Change Of Hospıtals: Konya Sample” named master's thesis.

The expectation is to be inferred about what might happen in the future by going out of experience. Future expectations are cognitive maps that include the individual's thoughts, concerns and interests about the future (Şimşek,2012:92). Expectations gives important information about the experiences and achievements Individual expectations of future are influenced by the social environment in which the individual lives. Particularly in the younger ages, the social processes, the environment and the people in communication have an important share in this. In addition to this, factors such as age, gender and cultural structure affect the future expectations. The aim of this study is to examine the future expectations of Selcuk University Health Management students within the concept of anxiety.

Material Method

Easy sampling method and quantitative research design were used in the study. The data obtained in the research were transferred to the computer and the data were checked and the incorrect data were prepared in the first step. On the data descriptive statistics and variance analysis in independent groups was made.

Discussion and Conclusion

According to the results of the research, the ratio of students who believe that they can find work immediately when they graduate is 17,1%.In parallel with these results, research conducted by Taşkent and Şahin (2004) found that university students were hopeless about finding a job. According to Kaya's research (2013); students think that they will find jobs immediately when they graduate, the business fields become even greater, there will be no unemployment problems in the future and they do not think they will be unemployed. According to the results of the research, the expectation of the men is more positive than that of the females. Contrary to this result, according to the life satisfaction survey of TUİK in 2017, the rate of women who are hopeful of their future was 74,7%, whereas this rate was 72,2% for men. The rate of individuals who expressed their hope for their future is 73.4%. Tuncer's (2011) research on higher education youth's future expectations revealed that the future expectations of female students were higher. In a study conducted by Kula and Saraç (2016), it was concluded that gender influenced the future anxiety of students and that female students were more worried than male students. As a result, students who participate in the research believe that they will get what they want in the future, be happy and achieve their goals. The future expectation of the students is positive according to these results.
