We also need to do an update on the Registration Authority, skimming all our latest specifications for new code points.
Volunteers:
Dave: to lead part 12.
All: read through and comment on what others write.
Thomas/Karsten: look at the SVC/AVC one-pager and ‘reduce’ the intro material we have, for that.
Miska: to look at the MVC material.
Plan: a ‘larger’ white paper on the AVC FF family, and we’ll reduce that again to make a one-pager.
Once that’s done, we’ll look into new presentations.

Thank you, all approved without comment. Editors to supply COR, and to integrate into the running integrated edition.
m16665 File format sub-track selection and switching
Thank you for the update. Indeed, we don’t seem to have a way in SVC to indicate the recommended/selected output ‘modes’ (e.g. labeling the file that you should play the EL because the user has paid for it, and not switch down to the BL). The layer_output_flag is really buried in the sample groups, alas.
We issue an WD of amendment and encourage comment.
m16612 Thoughts about Adaptive Progressive Download in the file format
Thank you, and thank you also to the original proponent for the continued discussion. HTTP-based streaming is an active topic of discussion, not only here in MPEG (MMT) but also in 3GPP, DVB, the Media Fragments work at W3C, and other places. There are a number of proprietary solutions.
This is an area that MPEG, through the MMT, should monitor. Do we need a new, truly ‘incremental’ file/stream format that is a ‘family member’ with the ISO base media file format? Such a format would enable, for example ‘drop and play’ (tune in to a live stream), and time-based seeking when the client doesn’t have a time-to-dataoffset map yet.
Let’s hold this until we understand more (from MMT, and possibly other places). Exploration and requirements contributions would be very welcome.
