In response to its Extended Call for Proposals (N10526), MPEG received two inputs related to emotions and haptics. The work was picked up by the Systems subgroup. Based on the input related to haptics, requirements for active and passive haptic devices are included in the requirements document N10771 Requirements for MPEG-V. Passive devices allow for receiving haptic sensations. Active devices add a control capability.
