Summary report (4 proposals submitted):

  • Samsung proposed a distortion function for R-D mode decisions.

  • HHI described view synthesis optimization.

  • LG suggested a modified depth distortion measure.

  • Zhejiang described joint RDO for depth coding.

"Virtual gains" were reported due to different rate allocations; however, better understanding was needed. It was noted that optimization towards PSNR of synthesized views allocates more bit rate to depth, and there was a suggestion of testing with a fixed texture bit rate and a changing depth rate It was suggested to refine the CE in order to provide viewing results at the same bit rates.

Conclusions:



  • Add an option for m23714 in the software.

  • Continue CE.
