Summary report (2 proposals submitted):
-
HHI described extrapolation results, and viewing of sequences was recommended.
-
HHI described an interpolation method. This had mismatches in crosschecking for some sequences.
m23692 (HHI) reported results on view extrapolation using asymmetric filtering and texture synthesis. It involved asymmetric filtering of depth data, warping and disocclusion filling, using k-means clustering, and patch-based filling from neighbourhood, with 2 different patch sizes used. The results were available for viewing. Larger baselines could be studied.
In the subjective viewing, improvements were visible in some sequences but not in others. Further study was encouraged, e.g., with wider baselines and different levels of coding quality. It was suggested to add specification of view extrapolation experiments to the common test conditions. Further study was recommended as part of an AHG.
