m22895 Table of Replies on ISO/IEC 14496-12:2008/FDAM 3
All approved, thank you. Editor to incorporate the {} from the UK into the final amendment.
m23793
list of items regarding audio channel representation and dynamic range descriptions.
might need collaboration with ATSC and DVB on volume/dynamic range description.
m23611 On HEVC file format
We start a WD, with the open question of where this goes (a separate part, or a revised Part 15, called Storage of NAL-structured video?). We change to incorporate some ideas from the next one – a single array (called initializationArray), for example. We check whether width and height are already covered by a visual sample entry.
The group would prefer to leave MPEG-H file format open to the exploration below, and make this part of a re-named 14496-15 (Storage of NAL Unit structured video in the ISO Base Media File Format). Chair to talk to Ogura-san to explore what renaming means.

m23573
Basic idea is to reuse the technologies defined for carriage of AVC.
-
It is proposed to support only TS, excluding PS as they are almost not used. (This might need Systems’ resolution to solicit comments)
-
Proposal to use byte-stream format only.
-
the access unit to always start with the AU delimiter NAL unit
-
Define ‘HEVC slice’, ‘HEVC video sequence’, ‘HEVC video stream’ and ‘HEVC still picture’
-
HEVC ‘still picture’ is an access unit with IDR or CRA picture preceded by SPS and PPS required to decode this picture (similar to AVC where still picture is an IDR picture)
-
Random access point - requiring relevant SPS and PPS, the AVC-like definition and allows broadcast applications to mandate IDR or I-picture or CRA at RAP
-
Elementary stream priority indicator – this is set to ‘1’ in the packet containing the I-slice start code where the access unit can be decoded without prior access units.
-
HEVC should also follow the same model once HRD and VUI definitions are completed in HEVC
-
not clear about the support of low-delay except fixed_frame_rate flag defined in AVC
-
proposal to re-consider T-STD constraints
m23706
Proposal for MPEG-2 Systems amendment to support HEVC. Proposal includes support of PS. It has been discussed it might be needed to signal CRA as it provide different random access behavior from that of IDR.
m23838
Continuation of AVC file format with minor changes such as putting SPS, PPS as part of media stream. We might need further clarification or improvements on RAP (SAP) definitions.

4.3Summary of discussions
m23607 Editor's proposed basis for 14496-12 4th edition
Disposition:
Question: do we wait for COR5 or AMD4? Only COR5, editor to prepare the edition for publication once COR5 has a final text (or is disapproved). We note the mention of ‘iods’ under ‘isom’ but the iods is not defined here. We add a note and, if needed, an informative reference to part 14 (yes, in bibliographic).
“NOTE the ‘iods’ box is defined in ISO/IEC 14496-14”
m23760 Comments on ISO base media file format enhancements
Disposition: accepted
Thank you. We will issue a study of amd.4.
m23690 On container boxes
Disposition: noted
Alas, the meta box breaks the ‘rule’ (it’s a fullbox, probably a mistake). The guideline is in Annex C.
“Boxes containing other boxes are known as container boxes, and are normally a plain (non-full) box, since their semantics will never change if they are documented to contain only boxes.”
m23612 On ISO base media file format
Disposition:accepted
We will issue a study of DCOR5. Whether anyone will now understand is the subject of a separate contribution.
m23576
Switching between two streams of the same codec: no issue if bitstream is valid, which mean implying some restrictions during encoding.
Switching between two streams of the different codecs: For USAC works. Will have dropped out for other coders, because the 2nd coder needs two pre-rolls for instantiation.
