3D-AVC-CE8 results on Global Depth and View Prediction by NICT

Summary report:

  • There was one proposal from NICT on global depth and view prediction.

  • For the two view case: 30% lower bit rate was reported for texture and 57% lower rate for depth, but total performance including synthesis performance suffered a loss of more than 800% (for which the reason is not clear and could not be explained). It was claimed that subjective results are similar to the anchor with similar bit rate.

  • The CE report recommended subjective evaluation. Results for the 3-view case as well would be required as cross-check.

Conclusion:

  • Continue CE
