Summary report (4 proposals submitted):

  • HHI performed a comparison with block-adaptive motion parameter inheritance turned off for tool evaluation purposes.

  • RWTH described forced inheritance of motion parameters for depth coding, with some loss in BD-bit rates, and some mismatches in cross-checks.

  • ETRI described inter-component prediction of intra prediction modes, with performance almost identical to anchors, with minor mismatches in cross-checks.

  • Samsung described skipping of depth blocks (predicted from already coded depth data) based on the similarity of texture data between views, with small gains of 0.05% and 0.27% for 2 and 3-view cases.

Conclusions:

  • Discontinue CE

  • As a general design principle, parsing should not be dependent on signal processing applied to decoded pictures (see also notes for AVC-CE9).
