4.2Green MPEG

Industry is very interested in lowering the power consumption of mobile devices by knowing the decoding complexity of an individual frame as well as the brightness range. Within MPEG, signaling for enabling low power encoding, decoding, and presentation is investigated. This will also have an impact on the media format for MPEG data. Requirements are gathered in N13429 Context, Objectives, Use Cases and Requirements for Green MPEG. N13428 Draft Call for Proposals on Green MPEG was developed with the goal to issue a call at the 104^th meeting. The adhoc group N13226 AHG on Green MPEG continues to refine the CfP.
