The 3DV experts offered a time table for developing the standard at the 90th meeting. The Call for Proposals is expected for the 95th meeting in January 2011.

18.3High Performance Video Coding (HVC)
HVC targets mobile services, IPTV, and Ultra High Definition (UHD) displays with a focus on coding efficiency considering codec complexity as well. The current target is to increase coding efficiency by 25% at low complexity and 50% at full complexity. N11096 Vision, Applications and Requirements for High-Performance Video Coding (HVC) is the updated requirements documents serving as a guideline for applications of HVC.
MPEG plans to collaborate with the ITU on high performance video coding. N11113 Joint Call for Proposals on Video Compression Technology was issued. Proposals are evaluated by subjective tests to be carried out prior to the 92nd meeting in April 2010. N11113 provides further detail on the test sequences and rate points as well as time schedule. At this meeting, more than 30 preregistrations were registered.
