5Meeting deliverables 5.1Plenary discussions
SAOC Tools
Juergen Herre, FhG, make a report from the break-out group on evaluation of lossless coding tools in SAOC. The presentation discussed the relative contribution of the performance of the tools under consideration as they operate in the context of SAOC. Their recommendation was to remove the following tools:
The Chair noted that this recommendation is exactly what was requested in m17288, the contribution on this topic. It was the consensus of the Audio subgroup to accept this recommendation and incorporate appropriate changes into the SAOC FDIS.
SAOC DCU
Juergen Herre, FhG, make a report from the break-out group on the syntax and semantics of the SAOC DCU tool. He noted that there are two issues:
In the first issue, it is proposes to support three modes:
-
no information of DCU so that DCU is not active
-
DCU information is transmitted and DCU processing is mandatory
-
DCU information is transmitted but DCU processing is not mandatory
In the second issue, it is noted that DCU processing negatively impacts SAOC functionality in the case that residual coding is present. For example, in a karaoke application, if there is a full residual for the vocal then the appropriate DCU processing of the vocal may be quite different from what it would be if there is not residual signal.
The proposed DCU syntax and semantics were reviewed by interested experts.
It was the consensus of the Audio subgroup to accept this recommendation and incorporate appropriate changes into the SAOC FDIS.
