Low complexity video coding might be potentially relevant especially for mobile and UHDTV devices. Spatial random access is a functionality currently not provided by standardized solutions. Requirements are summarized in N12210 Draft Requirements for Low Complexity Video Coding.
At the 97th meeting, viewing of the sequences, anchors and evaluation of evidence was planed. However, the interested parties did not arrange for adequate viewing facilities. After the 96th meeting, evidence of technologies for low complexity video coding was expected at the 98th or 99th meeting the latest. Due to the limited activity prior to this and at this meeting, no adhoc group for this topic was established.
