MPEG received input related to preservation of digital media content. It is assumed that codec technology will expire at the risk of losing contents. There are proposals to provide interfaces to preservation engines in order to eliminate this problem. Currently, the work is focused on Preservation Description Information. Requirements can be found at N12251 Multimedia Preservation Description Information Requirements, Version 1.0.
The adhoc group N12194 AHG on Multimedia Preservation will work on this topic. A call for requirements is to be prepared.
