IPICS ALNAP – African Laboratory for Natural Products

Support started in 1996 and was concluded in 2015.
This network consists of four natural products laboratories.
Objectives

  • Promote research and training in natural products in the African subregion

  • Offer analytical services in our area of competence

  • Engage in finding solutions to critical problems faced by society

  • Engage in collaborative research with research groups in our subregion and beyond

  • Engage in developing products from nature for health and general body care

IPICS ANCAP - African Network for Chemical Analysis of Pesticides

Support started in 2001.
Objectives

The African Network for Chemical Analysis of Pesticides and other pollutants (ANCAP) is a legally registered non-governmental, non-political, non-sectarian and non-profit making scientific body devoted to the study, promotion and development of the science of all aspects of chemical analysis of pesticides, including residues, degradation and environmental fate - with the overall goal of safeguarding public health and the environment, ensuring safety of African agricultural and aquatic products in order to make them competitive in the world market, thereby significantly contributing to the continent’s poverty eradication endeavours. The overall objective is to increase the contribution by ANCAP of research and higher education in basic sciences to sectors important for local and global development.

To achieve this ANCAP:


  1. Conducts summer schools and scientific symposia at least once every two years.

  2. Support exchange of students and staff visiting laboratories within and outside the member countries.

  3. Support scientists and students to attend conferences.

  4. Support laboratories in supply of chemicals and maintenance of instruments.

  5. Participate in outreach activities to disseminate results and develop awareness to different stakeholders and the public.
