IPICS BAN:04 – Studies of Organic Pollutants in Food and Environment
ISP support to the activities started in 2000 as part of former IPICS BAN:01 (1977-2004; natural products chemistry). From 2002 separate support has been directed to environmental chemistry. Planned last year of support is 2023.
Objectives
Food safety is a burning issue in Bangladesh due to the use of unauthorized toxic chemicals in food production, preservation and storage. The objectives are to identify and quantify toxic chemicals in different food items, to produce skilled manpower by giving training to students & young scientists, to disseminate knowledge in conference/seminars and to publish scientific papers in peer reviewed journals.
