The institution does not provide any facility for student progression to higher level of education and towards employment .

5.2.4 Enumerate the special support provided to students who are at risk of failure and drop out?

At present the college does not have any special support for the students who are at risk of failure and drop out .

5.3 Student participation and activities .

5.3.2 Furnish the details of major student achievements in co-curricular, extracurricular and cultural activities at different levels: University/State/Zonal/National/ international, etc for the previous four years.

Students are encouraged to participate in various competitions at district, state and college levels such as:-


  1. Inter-college football orgainised by North Eastern Hill University in 2015. The college reached the final and won the Runners-up trophy.

  2. Inter-college cross country Marathon race organized by North Eartern Hill University in 2015. In this event the college also participated and won the 2nd and 3rd position trophies.

  3. Table tennis for men and women organized by North Eastern Hill University in 2015. The college also took part in this event but could not win any medal.

  4. The college also participated in the Skit competition on environment organized by the District Administration West Jaintia Hills on 1st June 2015. The college presented the Skit “Save the Rivers”. The skit was adjudged the first prize.

  5. The college sent interested student to participate in the inter college competition of different events held on 26th September 2014 organised by Heirisa entertainment, Jowai. The various events won by the participants of the college were as follows:

  1. Singing competition in English category:

1st Prize : Shri Tongper, Bsc 3rd year

2nd Prize : Henry Ford Suchiang BA 1st year




  1. National Voluntary Blood donation “quiz competition”:

  1. State level inter school quiz and debate competition 2014: The winner of the District level in debate, Shri Nangiohshwa Shadap was selected to represent the District at the State level inter school competition, 2014 which was organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya.



  1. Debate and quiz competition held on the 8th October 2013 at Lady Keane College, Shillong organized by Lady Keane College, Shillong.

5.3.3 How does the college seek and use data and feedback from its graduates and employers, to improve the performance and quality of the institutional provisions?

The college has not yet invited or collected feedback from the student and their parents for further improvement in performance and quality of the institution .

5.3.4 How does the college involve and encourage students to publish materials like catalogues, wall magazines, college magazine, and other material? List the publications/materials brought out by the students during the previous four academic sessions.

The institution publishes the college magazine every year. Students are invited and encourage to contribute to it through variety of articles . There was a good response from the student as well as from the teachers.

5.3.5 Does the college have a Student Council or any similar body? Give details on its selection constitution, activities and funding.

The college have a student union body known as Kiang Nangbah Government Student Union headed by the President who is also the Principal of the college in addition to eleven student members holding different posts namely:

(i) Vice-President.

(ii) General Secretary.

(iii) Assistant General Secretary.

(iv) Secretary Cultural Affairs.



  1. Secretary Outdoor Games and Sports.

  2. Secretary Indoor Games and Sports.

  3. Secretary Social Welfare.

  4. Secretary Debate Symposium.

  5. Student Editor.

  6. Secretary Girls’ Common Room.

  7. Secretary Boys’ Common Room.

General Election to the above posts is held every year through secret ballot papers. The eligibility to contest the election is defined in the guidelines framed for the student union body of the college. Each elected member carries out their activities with the help and advice of the professor- in- charge.

The union caters to the welfare of the students and the extra-curricular activities. The government annually allocates funding to the union for conducting the different activities for the college week.

5.3.6 Give details of various academic and administrative bodies that have student representatives on them.

The college has various committees. Some of the committees also include the elected member of the Kiang Nangbah Government College Student Union as the members. The following committees which have representatives from the student union are :-



  1. Cleanliness and College Beautification Committee in which the Secretary Social Service Kiang Nangbah Government College Student Union represents the students.

  2. Health and Sanitation Committee where the Secretary Boys’ common room and the Secretary Girls common room Kiang Nangbah Government College Union are the members of the committee.

  3. Sports and Games committee also includ the Secretary Outdoor Games and the Secretary Indoor Games Kiang Nangbah Government College Student Union as its members.

  4. Cultural committee: The Secretary Cultural Affairs Kiang Nangbah Government College Studen Union is also a member of the committee.

  5. The Secretary debate a symposium is one of the members of the Literary Committee.

  6. The Student Editor Kiang Nangbah Government College Student Union is a member of the Editorial Board of the College Magazine.

5.3.7 How does the institution network and collaborate with the Alumni and former faculty of the Institution.

The college has an active Alumni Association. The members participate in various activities of the college. The Alumni Association also conducts seminars and workshops in the college for the benefit of the students as well as the teaching staff. As part of the celebration of the Foundation Day of the college, members of the association were also invited to attend the programme. Members of the association who are well placed was also selected to deliver a speech on behalf of the Alumni Association to motivate the students. Through the College Alumni Association the well-placed ex-students meet from time to time to organize various programmes and also to share each other's experiences and challenges in one's career.
