LIVINGSTON – Services for A. J. Burns, 79, of Livingston were held Tuesday, March 6, from the Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Buller officiating. Burial followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mr. Burns died Saturday at the Polk County Memorial Hospital in Livingston. He was born July 9, 1910 in Corsicana, the son of John Buel Burns and Martha Alice Hook Burns. He was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad for 30 years. He was married to the former Delia Clark on Sept. 15, 1934 in Houston. Mr. Burns was a member of the Trinity Lodge No. 14 AF&AM I Livingston and a former member of the Caderothell Lodge AF&AM. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Delia Burns of Livingston; a son, J. B. Burns of Houston; a daughter, Joyce E. Hall of Sacraments, Calif.; a sister, Marge Webb of Dangerfield; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were members of the Trinity Lodge No. 14 AF&AM of Livingston. Cochran Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for Delia Burns, 91, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday,

July 15, 2000, from Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Leonard Budro and the Rev. Harold Issacs officiating. Interment will follow in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Burns died Monday, July 10, in Spring Homecare in Kingwood. She was born Aug. 24, 1908 in Beasley, the daughter of John and Aletha Hardin Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. J. Burns, and her parents. Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Hall of Sacramento, Calif.; son J. B. Burns of Houston; sister, Jacquline Brock of Humble; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Robert Fry, L. D. Farrar, Michael Burns, Aaron Browne, Francis Rangel and Rick Browne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund. Cochran Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for two day old Cindy Jean Byars were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Pace Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Bold Springs Cemetery. The Rev. J. B. Pruitt officiated. Born Aug. 7, 1974, she was the daughter of Edna Jean Woodruff and Robert Dale Byars, both of Livingston. Other survivors include grandparents Mrs. Fred Murphy of Livingston and Catherine Lorane Wilson of Moscow; and great-grandparents, Mrs. Pearl Lawrence of Livingston and Mrs. Edna Andrews and Jack Andrews, both of Tyler.

30 July 1908 (From Bold Springs) – Mrs. Emma Calliham died at her home the 22nd,

at 7 o’clock after an illness of several months… She leaves an aged husband, J. M.

Callihan [sic.], and four daughters, Mesdames C. J. Pinkard of Leggett, Ed Malone,

U. Allman and Miss Edith Calliham, and two brothers, Cullen Coogler of Livingston

and Calhoun Coogler of this place. She was buried in the Bold Springs Cemetery.

LIVINGSTON – Graveside services for Irene Camp, 95, were held Sunday, May 2, 2004


at Bold Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Poe officiating. Mrs. Camp died Friday,

April 30, 2004 at Timberwood Nursing Home in Livingston. She was born April 6, 1909

in Troup, Texas, the daughter of James and Lillie Moore Hunter. She was preceded in

death by her father, James Madison Hunter, and her mother, Lillie Mae Moore Hunter.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Leola Camp of Victoria, Frank


and Winnie Camp of Rochelle, Harlan and Frances Camp of Livingston, Vernon and Sheryl Camp of Weatherford, Bob and Yvonne Camp of Friendswood; son, Don Camp of Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LIVINGSTON – Graveside services for Sam Cannady, 79, were held Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, in Bold Springs Cemetery, with the Rev. Chuck McLaurin officiating. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 8568. Mr. Cannady died Friday, Aug. 20, in Woodland Heights Medical Center, Lufkin. He was born Jan. 11, 1925 in Idabel, Okla., the son of Ernest and Lula Mae Barnes Cannady. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Robin Cannady Malac. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Patti Cannady

of Livingston, Sammy and Sharon Cannady of Oklahoma City, Okla., Kenneth and Jo Cannady of Hugo, Okla., Steve and Martha O’Bannon of Livingston and Gary and Donna O’Bannon of Onalaska; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Russell Tuncap of The Woodlands; sisters, Lela and Effie; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cardwell died March 31, 1945 in Bay City, the son of Neil and Nina Byars Cardwell. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Sam Byars, Gladys Byars and Wanda Lewis.
