Dayton – Mrs. JoAnn Bailey, 47, of Houston died Monday, Jan. 21, 1991 at her home in Houston. She was born in Livingston and had been a lifelong resident of Houston. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 25, from Sterling Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jimmy Charles officiating. Graveside services followed from Bold Springs Cemetery in Bold Springs. Survivors include her husband, John Henry Watts of Houston; two sons, Kirk Edward Bailey of Houston and Joe Dan Bailey of Charlotte, N. C.; three daughters, Sheila Lynn Mitchell of Houston, Dianna Lynn Kirby of Brownsboro and Mary Lynn Rodriguez of Cut ‘N’ Shoot; two brothers, C. E. Minter of Willis and W. E. Minter of Jewett; sister, Opal Peek of Crosby; and six grandchildren. Pallbearers were Glen Peek, Jesse Rodriguez,

Mikel Kirby, Jimmy Peek, Joe Mitchell and Michael Minter.

LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for Bobbie Love Baker, 80, of Livingston, were held Sunday, May 7, 1989 from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Interment followed in the Bold Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Baker died Friday,

May 5, 1989 at the Parkwood Place Nursing Home in Lufkin. She was born April 25, 1909 in Livingston, the daughter of Robert G. Walding and Nita Buller Walding. She was a member of the Bold Springs Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert “Pug” and Rosalie Baker of New Caney; daughter and son-in-law Juanita and Powell Coburn of Buffalo; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Bill and Violet Baker of Livingston; two brothers, John Nick and A. E. “Dock” Walding of Livingston; a sister, Ida Bell Walding Chessher of Houston; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She

was preceded in death by her husband, L. C. Baker, and son L. C. Baker Jr.; and daughter Kathryn Barrett. Pallbearers were Calvin Jones, Steve Hailsler, Billy Clamon, Kenneth Larry Baker, Jack O’Neill and Earl Abbott. Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for Violet L. Baker, 83, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday,

Jan. 15, 2006, in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dickey Boddie and the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Bold Springs Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 8568. Mrs. Baker died Friday, Jan. 13, in Memorial Hermann Hospital, Houston. She was born July 23, 1922 in Knight, the daughter of James L. and Mary Matthews Capps. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Bobby Ann and William Babbs of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Betty Baker of

Livingston; son, Keith Alan Baker of Washington, D.C.; granddaughters, Rhonda Marquart and husband Rich, Donna Allen and husband J. D., Tammy Singleton, Jennifer Babbs, Michelle Sanders and husband Rodger and Jessica Ott and husband Adam; seven great-grand-children; sisters, Lois Hilburn and husband Billy of Trinidad and Mettie Houchins of Sturgis, S. D.; brother Harvey Capps; brother-in-law, Robert “Pug” Baker and wife Rosalie

of Leggett and sister-in-law, Juanita Colburn of Buffalo. Pallbearers will be Rich Marquart, J. D. Allen, Rodger Sanders, Adam Ott, Tom Wilder, Charlie Stephens and David McLeod. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Thomas, Doug Hand, Charlie Adams, Robert Baker and Billy Hilburn.

LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for William “Bill” Penn Baker, 79, of Livingston were held Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, from the Pace Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Leonard Budro and the Rev. Frank E. Hood officiating. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mr. Baker died Sunday, Nov. 22, in Lufkin. He was born May 4, 1919 in Polk County, the son of Louis Claude and Bobbie Rogers Baker. Mr. Baker played football in high school, winning State Champs in 1936-37. He also coached Little League Baseball. He had been employed as a mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Katherine Barrett; and stepmother, Love Baker. Survivors include his wife, Violet Baker of Livingston, whom he

married on July 21, 1940; daughter, Bobby Babbs and husband William of Leggett; sons, Keith Baker of Washington, D. C. and Kenneth Baker and wife Betty of Livingston; brother Robert “Pug” Baker and wife Rosalie of Leggett; sister Juanita Colburn and husband Powell of Buffalo; granddaughters, NaDonna Allen and husband J. D. of Livingston, Jessica Baker of Livingston, Michelle Baker of Livingston, Jennifer Gesford and husband Matt of Livingston, Rhonda Marquart and husband Rich of Houston and Tammy Singleton and husband Tim of Huntsville; three great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons and brother-in-law, Bill Barrett of Leggett. Pallbearers were Matt Gesford, Chester Meek, J. D. Allen, Richard Marquart, Tim Singleton and Charley Stephens.
