Obituary published in the Polk County Enterprise – December 4, 1977 Edition

Funeral services for Pearl Lawrence, 89, was held at the Chapel of the Pace Funeral Home Oct. 29. Lawrence was born in Goodrich, March 10, 1888. Officiating Ministers were Bro. C. L. Moore and Bro. Frank Hood. Interment followed in the Bold Springs Cemetery. She was a long time member of the Providence Baptist Church. Lawrence is survived by, three sons; Vern Lawrence of Livingston, N. E. (Dick) Lawrence of Weatherford, Ray Lawrence of Livingston; three daughters; Lillian Murphy of Livingston, Katherine Gassiot of Livingston; one brother; Wilson Armitage of Livingston; one sister; Maude Renfro of Beaumont, Texas and 18 grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren Pallbearers were; Larry Lawrence, Ken Hernsberger, Clay Lawrence, Bubba Corzine, Perry Jordan, Bobby Lawrence, Elbert Jordan and Glenn Lawrence.

LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Lawrence, 80, were held Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1988 from Bethel Baptist Church in Bold Springs, with the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Lawrence died Jan. 10 in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. She was born May 22, 1907 in Gordon County in West Texas to Fletcher Pierce and Roxie Rae Pierce. Mrs. Lawrence was reared and attended school in Gordon County. She married Voughn Lawrence in 1927 in Livingston and they made

heir home in Polk County since that time. Mr. Lawrence preceded her in death

on June 2, 1960. Mrs. Lawrence was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Bold Springs

and was an active member until her health failed her. She was a loving wife and mother

and devoted her life to her husband and children. Survivors include two sons, Clay Lawrence and Eugene Pierce of Livingston; one daughter, Doris Green of Livingston; one brother, Chester Pierce of Livingston; one sister, Lola Maude McPike of Livingston; 11 grandchildren; six great-grand-children; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Billy McPike, Billy Pierce, Roger Pierce, Kenneth Yates, Cloyce

Chalker and Harold Issacs. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Livingston – Funeral services for Roy Verne Lawrence, 78, of Livingston were held

Monday, Feb. 1, 1988 from the Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Frank Hood

officiating. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mr. Lawrence died at

his residence on Jan. 29. He was born July 17, 1909 in the Elwood community in

Polk County to Robert Lee Lawrence and Pearl Armitage Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence

was reared in Polk County and made it his home his entire life. He married the former

Florence V. Chambers on Aug. 18, 1928 in Livingston and to this marriage five children

were born, one of whom, August Frank Lawrence, preceded him in death of Feb. 1, 1958

in Germany while in the service. Mr. Lawrence was engaged in the farming and logging industries in Polk County until his retirement in 1967. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Bold Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Florence Chambers Lawrence of Livingston; two sons, Bobby

Lawrence and Glenn Allen Lawrence of Livingston; two daughters, Pearlee Blackerby of

Livingston and Jimmie M. Monroe of Houston; two brothers, Norris Elton “Dick”

Lawrence of Weatherford and Ray Lawrence of Livingston; three sisters, Lillian Murphy,

Melba Gassiot and Estel King, all of Livingston; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;

and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Pallbearers were Richard Hollis, Larry Wayne Lawrence, Eddie Monroe, Spencer Monroe,

Douglas Blackerby, A. William “Bill” White, Clay W. Lawrence, Elbert Jordan, Chris

Brown and J. W. Blackerby.

Pace Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

LIVINGSTON - Clay Lawrence Sr. 69 of Livingston passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008


in Lufkin with his loving family by his side. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 10, 2008 at 10:00 A. M. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Frank Hood and Bro. Harold Isaacs officiating. Burial will follow in the Bold Springs Cemetery. Clay was born February 6, 1939 in Livingston, to parents V.R. and Pearl Pierce Lawrence. He married his wife Marsha Jean Gage on January 28, 1975 also here in Livingston. He is survived by his loving wife Marsha Lawrence of Livingston, sons; Pete Lawrence and wife Tabitha of Weatherford, TX, Tommy Frank Lawrence and wife Sheryl of Big Sandy, TX, Robin Wood Lawrence and wife Rhonda of Livingston, daughter; Tammy McQueen and husband

Frankie of Livingston, nephew son Mike Crim and wife Juanita of Goodrich, TX, and his grandchildren Aleisha Buller and husband Lance, Randy Delafuente, Douglas Lawrence, Morgan Lawrence, Remington Lawrence, Cody Lawrence, Darah Lawrence, Brandon Wood, Jesse Crim, Mike Crim, great grandchildren; Kaleb Buller and Kain Buller. He is also survived by his special niece and nephew Rich and Wendy Timm and his special friends,

James and Lori Campbell Welch, Terry and Linda Jenkins, and Little Faye. The family would like to especially thank Corky Cochran, Josh Mohler and Brad Williams for their help.

LIVINGSTON - Ray Lawrence 77, of Livingston died Wednesday June 4, 2003 at his residence. Services were held Saturday, June 7, at Bethel Baptist Church in Bold Springs, with Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Interment with military honors by VFW Post 8568 followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mr. Lawrence, founder of Lawrence Saw Co., was born on January 31, 1926 in the Bold Springs community of Polk County to parents Robert

Lee and Pearl Armitage Lawrence. He married Lillie Petty on Jan. 6, 1950 in Livingston. Mr. Lawrence was a member of the First Baptist Church of Livingston. He served with the U. S. Navy in submarines during World War II. He was a longtime member of the Livingston Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a past recipient of the Hometown Spirit Award and was the current president of the Sand Hills Hunting Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Estel King and Lillian Murphy, and four brothers, Vern, Vonnie, Dick and Claude Lawrence. Pallbearers were Dr. Milton Thiel, Doug Blackerby, Jerry Ellison, Lonell Brasher, Dan Ellis and Bubba Watson. Honorary pallbearers were Doug Hand, Dr. William Watson, Luther Thompson and members of the Livingston Rotary Club and Sand Hills Hunting Club. Survivors include his wife, Lillie; four children, Letha Corzine and husband B. W. “Bubba” of Cleburne, Denise Cain and husband John Michael of Livingston, Larry Lawrence and wife Debbie of Livingston and Theresa Bailey and husband Brian of Marlin, one sister, Melba Gassiott of

Livingston and three grandchildren, Sgt. William R. “Billy” Lawrence and wife, Krissy, Michaella Cain and Pfc. Curtis Bailey. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
