Tom Marsh


Obituary published in the Polk County Enterprise - November 7, 1974 Edition

Funeral services for Tom Marsh, Sr., 64, were held Saturday afternoon at the Pace Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. C. L. Moore officiating, assisted by the Rev. Frank Hood. Burial was in the Bold Springs Cemetery. Marsh was born the son of Tom and Polly Scrap Marsh on Feb. 21, 1910 in Bold Springs. He died Oct. 31, (1974). Marsh attended the public schools of the Bold Springs community and married Mabel Hand in Livingston on Oct. 4, 1930. The couple had seven children. Besides his cattle and farming operation, he was

employed by Polk County as a heavy equipment operator. Marsh was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Bethel Baptist Church. He survived by his wife, Mabel Marsh of Bold Springs; five sons, Tommy June Marsh of Livingston; Bobby Joe Marsh of Houston, George Harold Marsh of Livingston, Don Gilbert Marsh of Livingston and Johnny Frank Marsh of Livingston; two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Jean Kendall of Houston and Mrs. Mabel Clara Sloan of Houston; two sisters, Mrs. Beulah Turner of Livingston and Mrs. Lee Standley

of Houston; and 13 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Herndon Rogers, Pete Glover,

Harold Barrington, Steve Marsh, Jerry Standley and Gene Standley.

LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for Tommy June Marsh, 59, of Livingston were held Saturday, Aug. 18, 1990 from the chapel of Pace Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Buller of Bethel Baptist Church in Bold Springs officiating. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mr. Marsh died Aug. 16 in Polk County Memorial Hospital. He was born June 10, 1931 in Leggett, the son of Tom Marsh and Mabel Hand Marsh. Mr. Marsh was reared in Polk County and attended school in Leggett. On Nov. 30, 1949, he entered the U. S. Army

during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Marsh attained the rank of Corporal and served one year, eight months and 24 days of foreign service in Korea. He earned the Korean Service Medal with six bronze service stars. Mr. Marsh received his honorable discharge on Dec. 3, 1952 at Fort Sam Houston. On May 22, 1954 in Leggett, he married the former Evelyn Nowell and to this marriage three sons were born, all of whom survive. Mr. Marsh was employed by Smith Oil Company and worked in the oil fields as a pumper. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Marsh of Livingston; three sons, Steve Marsh and his wife, Everlou of Livingston, Tommy Glen Marsh and his wife, Barbara of Livingston and Jim Marsh of Livingston; four brothers, Bobby Joe Marsh of Highlands, George Harrell, Don Marsh and Johnny Marsh, all of Livingston; two sisters, Jean Kendall of Pasadena and Mabel Clara Sloan of Channelview;

four grandchildren, Steven Marsh, James Cody Marsh, Tommy Dale Marsh and Michael Glen Marsh, all of Livingston and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Pallbearers were Cloyce Chalker, Eldon Chalker, Charles E. Chalker, Lucien Butler, Robert Dickens, Mike Marsh and Harold Wayne Sloan. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Livingston – Funeral services for Tommy Glen Marsh, 32, were held Saturday, June 29, 1991 from the chapel of Pace Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Hood of Chesswood Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mr. Marsh died June 26 in Polk County Memorial Hospital. He was born June 1, 1959 in Livingston to Tom June Marsh and Evelyn Nowell Marsh. He was reared in Polk County and attended school in Livingston and Big Sandy. Mr. Marsh was graduated from high school in Big Sandy in 1977. On Aug. 23, 1980 he married the former Barbara Greenlee in Segno. To this marriage two sons were born. Mr. and Mrs. Marsh made Polk County their home all of their married life. Mr. Marsh was employed as a pipeline worker for a short time before entering the logging industry, where he worked for two years. After leaving the logging industry, he was employed by Kevin Merritt Oil Co., where he worked as a pumper in the Polk County oil fields. Mr. Marsh loved the outdoors, working outdoors and also loving to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tom June Marsh, on Aug 16, 1990. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Marsh of Ace; mother, Evelyn Marsh of Livingston; two sons, Tommy Dale Marsh and Michael Glen Marsh of Livingston; two brothers Steve Marsh of Livingston and Jim Marsh of Segno; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Pallbearers were Robert Wiggins, Mike Marsh, Eddie West, Robert Dickens, Lucian Butler, Joe Gore, Mark Gore and Barney Wiggins. Honorary pallbearers were Sam Overstreet and Bob Pruitt. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
