LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for Robert C. Martin, 75, a long-time resident of Polk County who resided in Port Arthur at the time of his death, were held April 23 from the Chapel of Pace Funeral Home. The Rev. Frank Hood officiated. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edmond C. Turner, Wallace H. Turner, Ralph Yates, James E. Robinson, Dickey Phillips and Charles Thomas. Martin was born the son of J. R. and Carrie Thomas Martin in Montgomery County. He moved to the Elwood community in Polk County at an early age. He attended the then available Polk County public schools.
In 1928, he married the former Marie Robinson in Onalaska. To this union was born one child, who survives. Martin moved to Port Arthur in 1940 and was employed by the Texaco Refining Co. for 29 years before retiring in 1970. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Port Arthur. Survivors include his wife, Marie Martin of Port Arthur; one son, R. C. Martin of Port Arthur; three sisters, Maggie Bell Turner of Port Arthur, Bonnie Watts of Livingston and Hortense Phillips of Livingston; two grand-children; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

LIVINGSTON – Graveside services for Waymon “Rebel” Martin, 73, of Onalaska will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 8, 1999 from Bold Springs Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 8568. Mr. Martin died Friday, March 5, in Lufkin. He was born March 4, 1926 in Union City, Tenn.. Mr. Martin was employed in management, was a military veteran who served during World War II and was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife, Lora Lee Martin of Onalaska; sons, Daniel Martin
of San Jose, Calif., Waymon Martin of Dana Point, Calif. And Armand Collins of Livingston; and grandchildren, Loralee Collins of Livingston, Jacquline Martin of Dana Point, Calif., Jennifer Martin of Dana Point, Calif., Lilie Martin of San Jose, Calif, and Rachel Martin of San Jose, Calif. Pace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LIVINGSTON -- Edith Odessa McCarty, 86, was born April 11, 1923 and died on Saturday, April 18, 2009. Her favorite hobbies were working in her flower and vegetable gardens, fishing and hunting with her husband. She is survived by her sons, Ray McCarty and wife Linda of Livingston and Ronnie McCarty and wife Julie of Decatur; stepson, Pat McCarty and wife Joyce; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren. Mrs. McCarty is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond P. McCarty; parents, William Apperson and Jennie Isaacs Shirley and great-granddaughter, Frankie Daniel McCarty. Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 21, at Bold Springs Cemetery, with Pastor Joel Salazar officiating. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LEGGETT – A funeral was conducted Jan. 30 in Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Mildred E. McCarty, 86, who died Jan. 28 in Livingston Memorial Hospital. Interment was in Bold springs Cemetery. Rev. C. L. Moore officiated at the funeral. Mildred McCarty was a member of the Worldwide Church of God. She had lived in Leggett all her life. She was married Nov. 12, 1909, to James Henry McCarty who preceded her in death. They were married in Carmona. Survivors include five sons, Emmitt McCarty of Enid, Okla.; Raymond
