Livingston – Funeral services for Howard Z. Miller, 70, of Onalaska were held Monday, Dec. 13, 1993, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with Speaker Doyle Newell officiating. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mr. Miller died Dec. 10 at his residence. He was born Dec. 2, 1923 in Lake Charles, La., the son of Pat Miller and Odelia
Vincent. Mr. Miller retired from Amoco Chemical in 1981 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Livingston Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness Church. Survivors include his wife, Gail Miller of Onalaska; two sons, Pat Miller of Texas City and Michael Miller of League City; daughter, Judy Hansen of Galveston; sister, Dorothy Ashwood of Texas City; three stepdaughters, Judy Petrosino of Naples, N. Y., Linda Anstee of Crockett and Laura Rains of Groveton; and nine grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tom Bostwick, Billy Harding, Jerry Harding, Steve Wells, Stacey Rains and T. L. Bowen.
Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Services for Hamilton Monroe, 89, of Livingston were held last Thursday at the First Baptist
Church with the Rev. Charles Lewis Vance officiating and assisted by the Rev. Frank Hood.
Burial was in Camp Ruby Cemetery {s/b Bold Springs Cemetery} under the direction of Pace
Funeral Home. Mr. Monroe was found at his home shot to death Tuesday of last week. His
death was ruled “self-inflicted”. He was born Oct. 28, 1883 near Natchitoches, La., where he
attended school, and moved to Texas in 1910. He was the son of Dock and Laura Clark Monroe. He settled in Polk County in 1919 and was a farmer. He was a member of the Oakdale Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Hattie Monroe; a son, Walter Monroe of Livingston; a step-son, Fred Hyman of Oakland, Calif.; six daughters, Mrs. Annie Watts and Mrs. Oletta Emmons, both of Livingston, Mrs. Blondell Fawbush of Beaumont, Mrs. Radey McIntyre of Houston, Mrs. Nola Gassiot of Nacogdoches and Mrs. Freddie Mae Carlton of New Mexico; a brother, Lenord Monroe of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Williams and Mrs. Della Bossier, both of Windfield, La.; 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jimmy Monroe, Tommy Watts, Franklin Fawbush, Larry
McIntyre, Oliver Bond, Edward Holder, Eugene Gassiott and Robert L. Paul.

Central Baptist Church, with the Rev. Barry Jeffries officiating. Burial followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mr. Monthy died Tuesday, May 11, in Memorial Health System of East Texas in Lufkin. He was born Jan. 19, 1923 in Chipawaw, Wis., the son of Emil and Olive Richards Monthy. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Floyd Monthy and brother, Floyd Monthy. Mr. Monthy served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, having attained the rank of gunners mate second class. He served as a deacon at Central Baptist Church in Livingston. Mrs. Morris died Friday, July 7, in Timberwood Nursing Home, Livingston. She was born Jan. 12, 1923 in Evadale, the daughter of Jessie and Rebecca Cunningham Jones, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Teddy Jean Jones, Herman Jones, Sidney Jones and Barney Jones; grandson, Joshua Jasper. Survivors include her husband, M. C. Morris, whom she married in August 1966, daughters, Darlene Rowan of Tampa, Fla.; Frances Green of Houston and Helen
