Kathryn Elizabeth Barrett


Obituary from the Polk County Enterprise - November 19, 1981 Edition

LIVINGSTON – Funeral services were held Tuesday for Kathryn Elizabeth Barrett, 56,

at the Pace Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Emmett Nelson officiated with the assistance

of Rev. James Stuckey. Interment followed at the Bold Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Barrett was born Sept. 5, 1926 in Cleveland and died Monday at the family home in Leggett. She was the daughter of the late W. B. Whitmire and Mrs. Bobbie Love Walding-Whitmire-Baker. In the early part of her childhood, she moved to New Willard where she attended elementary school. Later, she graduated from Leggett High School. For many years she was employed by the Houston Natural Gas Company. She then moved to Livingston and worked as a legal secretary and later worked for the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, the County Road and Bridge Dept. and Wiggins Land Company. She married W. E. (Bill) Barrett June 3, 1955 in Rosenberg. Mrs. Barrett was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leggett. Survivors include her husband, W. E. (Bill) Barrett; her mother, Mrs. Bobbie Love Baker of Leggett; two daughters, Nita Love Barrett of Leggett and Mrs. Judith Ann Shaw of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Juanita Colburn of Buffalo; two brothers, Bill Baker of Livingston and Pug Baker of New Caney; one grandchild and a host of relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Ted Everett, H. H. DeVilleneuve, Jesse Neuman, Mike Enner, Bill Smith and Johnny Enner.

LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for William Ernest “Bill” Barrett, 85, were held Sunday, April 18, 2004, at Cochran Funeral Home, with Bro. Michael Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mr. Barrett died Wednesday, April 14, in Memorial Medical Center – Livingston. He was born June 27, 1918 in Jenkins, the son of Anthony


and Angeline Seals Barrett. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents. He served many years as a sheriff’s deputy, part of that time as chief deputy. Survivors include his daughters, Nita Barrett of Leggett and Judy Shaw of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sisters, Bessie Moffatt of College Station and Mildred Risinger of Galveston; nephews, Nathan Moffatt of College Station and Ronny Moffatt of Waco; granddaughter, Laurie; three great-grand-children and numerous other relatives. Pallbearers were Buddy McMillian, Gene Duff, Raymond Barrett, Jim Osborn, Larry Smith and Lee Barrett. Honorary pallbearer was Ronny Moffatt.

LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for Eugene Ray Barton, 65, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2005, at Lake Livingston Lutheran Church, with Pastor Sharon Kapsch officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery, Livingston. Mr. Barton died Tuesday, March 15, at his residence. He was born Sept. 23, 1939 in Weimar, the son of Leon Joseph Barton and Alma Valla Barton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; his father; sister, Larnette Guthmann; grand-daughters, Crystal Rester and Ginger Kay Steinocher, Chance Hopson. Survivors include his mother, Alma Walla Barton; sister, Kathy Faulkner of Clute; brother, Wayne Barton of Houston; daughter, Barbara Simons of Livingston; stepdaughter, Frances Rester of Livingston; stepson, Jack Lee Steinocher of Arkansas; special friend, Shelia Blackstock of Onalaska; granddaughters, Madonna Busby and Angel Steinocher; grandsons, Robert Hopson Jr. of Livingston, Jason Hopson and Jack Steinocher and six great-grand-children. Pallbearers will be Robert Hopson, Jason Hopson, Horace Simons, Tommy Simons, Steve Warren, Johnny Adomie, Robert Shupak, Shelton Simons and “Pondwater” Hendrix. Cochran Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LIVINGSTON - Graveside services for Ricky Dean Bates, 41, of Livingston were held Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, from Bold Springs Cemetery, with the Rev. Fred Alford officiating. Mr. Bates died Sunday, Sept. 28, in Memorial Medical Center – Livingston. He was born on April 11, 1962 in Orlando, Fla., the son of Clifford Columbus Bates and Alma Stovall Bates. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother, Alma Kamp of Livingston; girlfriend, Kathy Price of Livingston; brothers, Johnny Bruce Bates of Livingston, Jimmy Wayne Dorris of Williams, Ariz. and Clifford David Bates of Livingston; sisters, Alma Jean McKee of Kingwood, Carolyn Jean Colvin of Las Vegas, Nev. and Donna Lorraine Arnold of Magnolia; sons, Austin Prescott Bates of Dallas and Dean Allen Bates of Georgia; grandmother, Nina Odessa Johnson of Livingston and numerous aunts, uncles and
