Lisa Gale Van Akin of Texas City, great granddaughter of M. A. Cox and the late Mrs. Pearl Cox of Livingston, died Sept. 3 in Galveston County Memorial Hospital. Services for Miss Van Akin were held Sept. 3 at the Pace Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Burial was in the Bold Springs Cemetery. Miss Van Akin was born to William Pierce and Peggy Ann Crawford Van Akin of Texas City on Sept. 3. Survivors include her parents; four brothers, Max Crawford of Texas City, Billy Joe Van Akin of Idabel, Okla., James Henry Van Akin of Albany, Ore., William Van Akin, Jr., of Salem, Ore.; one sister, Alita Gale Van Akin of Texas City; grandparents, Pauline M. Cox of Calif., W. A. Van Akin of Texas City, Lois Smith of Texas City; great-grandfather, M. A. Cox of Livingston.

LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Peggy Ann VanAken, 66, of Alvin were held Tuesday, April 11, 2006, in the Pace Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Frank E. Hood officiating.
Mrs. VanAken was born June 29, 1939 in Livingston and died Friday, April 7, in Webster. Survivors include her sons, Randy VanAken and Max Abron Crawford; grandchildren, Cody Crawford, Scott Crawford, Alyssa Crawford-Brubaker, Kaeli VanAken, Kaitlyn VanAken and Krista VanAken and grandson, Chad Brubaker Jr.

27 Feb 1913 – Mrs. Delsenia Jasabelle Varner, wife of C. L. Varner died at the family residence near Nettie on January 26th . Mrs Varner was 59 years old. She was a devout Christian and had been an earnest worker in the Baptist church, of which she was a member, since 1876. She leaves surviving herhusband, one son and one sister….

27 Mar 1913 – The angel of death has again visited our community and taken from our midst a loving wife, a kind and gentle mother, a devoted Christian and a true friend and neighbor. Delsenia Jasabelle, daughter of Isaac M. and Julia T. Bowden, born in Chicasaw Co., Miss. January 12, 1853, moved with her parents to San Jacinto county, Texas in 1859. After the death of both parents, she with her brothers and sisters moved to Polk Co. and was married

to C. L. Varner on Aug. 17, 1879, and continued to live in this county until her death on January 26th, 1913.

Sister Varner gave her heart to Christ and joined the Missionary Baptist Church at Mount Capeas in San Jacinto Co. in 1876 and after moving to Polk Co. united with Bethel Church at Bold Springs….

She leaves surviving; her husband, C. L. Varner, of Nettie, Texas, a son, E. B. Varner, of Tyler, Texas and an only sister, Mrs. M. E. Bivens of Devine, Texas….

CONROE – Funeral services for George Melvin Wade, 59, of Conroe were held Saturday, Feb. 10, 1990 from the Metcalf Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Gentry and Dr. Bill Jones officiating. Graveside services were held Saturday from Bold Springs Cemetery near Livingston. Mr. Wade was born Aug. 5, 1930 in Millsap, Texas and died Feb. 7 in Houston. Mr. Wade was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 748 AF&AM. Survivors include his wife, Bobbye Wade of Conroe; daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Mills of

Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Bruce Wade of Conroe; brothers, Cecil E. Wade of Baltimore, Md. and James Maurcie Wade of Waco; sisters Rosalee Null of Hope, Ark. and Dorothy Marie Stateler of Austin; granddaughters, Emily Wade, Leja Mills and Debbie Mills; grandson,John Mills; and many friends and loved ones.

LIVINGSTON – Funeral services were held Tuesday, for Clyde S. Wainwright Sr., 92,

at Bold Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. Mark Lewis officiated and interment followed

at Bold Springs Cemetery. Mr. Wainwright was born Jan. 21, 1890 in Folkston, Ga. And died Feb 28, {1982} in Nacogdoches Medical Center Hospital. He was the son of the late Wiley Randolph and Lizzie Irene Wainwright. He received his education in the Folkston, Ga. Public schools and his early employment was with a Bank in that area. In 1913, he moved to Polk County and operated the New Willard Naval store, a company engaged in producing turpentine. He later served as manager of the Texas Long Leaf Cattle and Land Company. During the depression years, he entered the farming and ranching business and operated for over 40 years in the New Willard area. Active in community affairs, he helped organize the Sam Houston Electric Co-op. He served as past president and was a member of the board of directors for many years. Mr. Wainwright married Miss Florence Meece,

March 25, {1922} in Livingston and they had two children. He was a long-time member of the New Willard Presbyterian Church, having served as elder and Sunday school superintendent. After the closing of the New Willard Church, he joined the First Methodist Church in Livingston. Mr. Wainwright was past chairman of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee, a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, a member of the Texas Farm Bureau and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Florence Meece Wainwright of New Willard; daughter, Patsy Parrish of New Willard; Crystal Kent of Macon, Ga.; brother, Roscoe J. Wainwright of Livingston; six grandchildren, Patricia Parrish of Gladewater, Charles Parrish of Nacogdoches, Katherine Parrish of Dallas, Michael Parrish of Nacogdoches, Belinda Wainwright of Grand Prairie; Shelby Wainwright of Sequin and a host of relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Gordon Meece, Charles Parrish, Roland Wilder, James

Courtney, Dawson Courtney, Louis Burnett, Michael Parrish and Shelby Wainwright.

Honorary pallbearers were Roger Meece Jr. and Clyde Courtney.

Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangement.
