Irvin Duck

Livingston – Funeral services for Irvin Duck, 86, of Trinity were held Sunday,

Feb. 20, 1994 from the Pace Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Frank Hood officiating.

Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mr. Duck died Feb. 18 in Trinity. He was born Nov. 5, 1907 in Cass County, the son of Charlie Irvin and Annie Carter Duck. He started a truck driving career at the age of 14 and drove a truck all of his working years.

Mr. Duck moved to Livingston in 1946, with the Cassity Sawmill. On Oct. 12, 1929 he married the former Pearl Phillips in Dangerfield. To this union one daughter was born,

who survives. Mr. Duck retired from Cassity Lumber Co. He was caretaker at Bold Springs Cemetery for nine years. He was president of the Fellowship Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church for 25 years. Mr. Duck had lived in Livingston since 1946, moving to Trinity six years ago due to his failing health and a need to be near his daughter. Survivors include one daughter, Bobbie Ethredge and husband Paul of Trinity; two brothers, Sammy Duck of Houston and Luther Duck of Dallas; two sisters, Onie Grey of Liberty and June Chandler of Dallas; one granddaughter, Linda Thornton and husband Keith; three great-grandchildren, Tammy Teresa and Tasha Thornton; great-great-granddaughter, Katie Thornton; and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Nolan Watts, L. E. Bailey, Billy Coley, Howard Hilton, Roland Wilder and Jimmy Cassity. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Livingston – Funeral services for Pearl Duck, 79, of Trinity were held Tuesday,

Feb. 22, 1994, from the Pace Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Frank Hood officiating.

Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Duck died Feb. 20 in Lufkin. She was born July 11, 1914 in Cass County, the daughter of Jim and Olive Phillips. Her mother died when she was 11 years old and she had to become mother to her sisters. On Oct. 12, 1929 she married Irvin Duck in Dangerfield. They moved to Polk County in 1946. Mrs. Duck was a member of the First Baptist Church of Livingston and was known as a hard worker who was very active in church, helping with every function. She was also known as an excellent cook and wonderful mother who never said a cross word to anyone. Mrs. Duck was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 18, 1994. Survivors include one daughter, Bobbie Ethredge and husband Paul of Trinity; one brother, James Phillips of Dangerfield; two sisters, Estelle Strange and Dovie Riddle, both of Dangerfield; granddaughter, Linda Thornton and husband Keith; three great-grandchildren, Tammy, Teresa and Tasha Thornton; great-great-granddaughter, Katie Thornton; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Pallbearers were Shawn Phillips, Michael Parrish, Bobby Phillips, Armon Hewitt, Jerry Wayne Cassity, Jimmy Cassity and Steve Croll.

Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

SOMERVILLE – Funeral services for Brian Keith Evans, 24, of Spring were held Monday, Jan. 10, 1994, from George H. Lewis Funeral Home in Houston. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery near Livingston. Mr. Evans died Saturday, Jan 8, in a Houston hospital.

He was born May 4, 1969 in Trinity, the son of I. G. Evans Jr. and Peggy Ann Denham Evans Turner. He was a graduate of Huntsville High School and Sam Houston State University. During his lifetime he was a self-employed artist and a member of New Testament Baptist Church in Huntsville. Family members said he was a loving, caring person who loved his family and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and for always having a smile on his face. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joe Denham Jr. and paternal grandfather, I. G. Evans. Survivors include David Jackson of Houston; mother, Peggy Evans Turner of Willis; father, Ivy Evans of Groveton; grandmothers, Jeannette Denham of Livingston and Ann Evans of Groveton; two aunts, Jo Lin Fraser of Jasper and Kellie Hutchinson of Huntsville; two uncles, Larry Evans of Dallas and Steve Evans of Lufkin; good friend, Juanita Jackson of Austin; and brother, Bradley Denham Evans of Huntsville. BOLD SPRINGS – Services for Mrs. Maurine Southern Ewing, 65, were held July 18 in Bethel Baptist Church, with interment in Bold Springs Cemetery. The Rev. C. J. Moore officiated at the funeral. Mrs. Ewing died July 15 in Longview. She is the daughter of the late Dalton and Treva Southern and was born and reared in Polk County. Among survivors are her husband, George B. LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for James Lloyd Fain, 39 of Livingston will be held at

2 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Lee Poe officiating. Burial will follow in Bold Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from

6-8 p.m. Thursday at Cochran Funeral Home. Mr. Fain died Monday, March 17, in Memorial Health System of East Texas in Lufkin. He was born May 24, 1963 in Houston, the son of Harold Wade Fain and Carolyn Parker Fain. He was preceded in death by his father in 1996 and his brother, Tony Rice in 1981. He graduated from Livingston High School in 1981 and had been employed by Georgia Pacific and Champion for 22 years. He served in the

U. S. Army from 1983-1986, having attained the rank of SP4. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Carolyn and Lloyd Davis Jr. of Livingston, special friend Donald Wayne McClung of Livingston; grandparents W. LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for Jimmie Bob Farrar, 71, were held Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Cochran Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Burial followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 8568. Mr. Farrar died Monday, Aug. 2, in St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston. He was born June 4, 1933 in Houston, the son of P. R. and Nova Lee Riley Farrar, both of whom preceded him in death. Mr. Farrar worked for the City of Houston Police Department from 1958 to 1997. Survivors include his
