Mrs. Baxley died Sept. 22 at her home. She was born March 25, 1933 in Dallas, the daughter of Luther Lee Smith and Willie Smith. Survivors include her husband, Irving D. Baxley of Livingston; sons, Darrell L. Baxley of Livingston and Irving Duane Baxley of Dallas; daughter, Dianna Lynn Chavez of Houston; mother, Willie Smith of Houston; mother-in-law, Orveda Baxley of Livingston; sisters, Nell Baker of Dallas, Dollie Warner of Robin, Mary

LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for Cornelia Florence Bell, 88, were held Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002 from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Bell died Friday, Feb. 15, in Livingston. She was born Jan. 19, 1914 in Nesbitt, the daughter of Wyatt Wenton Belcher and Mrytle Lou Bates Belcher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Thomas Towns; her parents; husband Frank Charles Bell, brother, Wyatt W. Belcher Jr.; sister, Inez Belcher; an infant brother and an infant sister. Edmond Forest Bender 87 of Livingston passed away Wednesday June 25, 2008 in Houston. Funeral services will be held Friday June 27, 2008 at 4:00PM in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Visitation will be Thursday June 26, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM also in the Cochran Funeral Home. Military Honors will be given by VFW Post #8568. He was born May 6, 1921 in Eagle Lake, Texas to parents Lawrence Lewis Bender and Emily Beckman Bender. Edmond proudly served our country in WWII from 1942 until 1945. He was a life time member of the VFW Post #8568, and was a member of the Trinity Masonic Lodge #14 AF/AM. Edmond is survived by his wife Virginia Bender of Livingston, daughters Florence Parker and husband Karl of Lake Jackson, Beverly Gregory and husband Larry of Deer Park, Lenelle Deaville and husband Isaac of Livingston, Ann Munn and husband Bill of Spring, son Norman French Jr. of Livingston, and sister Helen Stewart of Chappell Hill. He is also survived by his grandson John David Parker of Louisiana and granddaughter Lora Hoke of Washington State. A host of other grandchildren and great grandchildren survived him as well. Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Noack, Bill Munn, Wayne Flannery, Woodrow Nelson, Karl Parker, Larry Gregory, John David Parker, Larry Stewart, and Willie Lawson. Funeral services for Homer Lee Bennett, 61, were held April 30 from the chapel of the Pace Funeral Home with the Rev. C. L. Moore assisted by Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Bennett married Lola Mae Harvell on Feb. 15, 1937. He was employed by the American Can Company. Bennett had made Polk County and the Bold Springs community his home for the past six years. LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for Lola Mae Bennett (Chalker), 85, were held Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, in Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dicky Boddie officiating. Burial followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. She was born Jan. 19, 1920 in Bessemer, Ala., the daughter of Willis and Lula Jane Pennington Harvell, and died Thursday, Aug. 4, in Briarcliff Health Center in Carthage. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 42 years, Homer Lee Bennett; husband of 10 years, Ed Baker; husband of seven years, Wilburn Chalker; grandson, Harold Leroy Bennett; granddaughter, Leslie Bennett and great-grandson, Joshua Michael Templeton. Survivors include her sons, Herbert Leslie Bennett of Humble, Donald Brady Bennett of Grand Prairie and Larry Lee Bennett of Hermitage, Tenn.; daughters, Belvery Annette Collins of Conroe, Sandra Faye Templeton of Carthage and Helen Joyce DeLeon of Humble; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Longtime Livingston businessman Alton McKay Bevell, owner of Bevell Wholesale Tackle Co. was buried in the Bold Springs Cemetery Wednesday following services at First Baptist Church in Livingston. He was 46. Mr. Bevell died suddenly Sunday evening while conducting church services in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) in Woodville which he served as president. He was born on Aug. 6, 1927 near Batesville, Miss. the son of James Blaine and Annie Belle Wilson Bevell. While in high school he excelled in basketball and baseball and upon graduation from Batesville High School in 1947 he was granted an athletic scholarship. However, because of a heart condition which developed in his youth, his doctor advised against further athletic activity. Mr. Bevell came to Livingston in 1951 where he married Patricia Ann Martin on June 17 1952. Mr. Bevell became the owner of a service station in downtown Livingston in 1958, but leaving the service station business he developed business activities in the rapidly growing fishing and recreational area around Livingston which culminated in creation of Bevell Wholesale Tackle Co. Mr. Bevell was instrumental in creating successful fishing spinners and lures which have received wide publicity in the area. The Big B, Bevell's Edge, the Po-Boy, H & H and the Tenna-spin are some of the lures which he helped develop and are now famous.  In October 1973, Mr. Bevell had open heart surgery. He had recovered to a point where he was allowed to spend several hours each day in his usual activities.  He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Katherine Kay and Tenna Ann Bevell of Livingston, his mother of Batesville, Miss. four sisters, Bessie

Purser, Lucile Stroupe and Margaret Wood, all of Batesville and Hazel Barnes of Roy, Utah; and two brothers, Baster Bevell of Southaven, Miss. and Calvin Bevell of Monrovia, Calif. Pallbearers were James E. Purser, Ralph Purser, Billy Strange, Noah Crosby, Charlie Ratcliff and Lee Odom.

Mr. Blackburn was born Aug. 17, 1962 and died on April 4, 2003. He was a certified Ford technician for seven years and enjoyed watching NASCAR racing. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvin and Lola Lane of Lufkin and a great nephew, Dylan Wayne Scott of Livingston.
