Floyd Benjamin ThompsonObituary published in the Polk County Enterprise – May 7, 1988 Edition LIVINGSTON – Graveside services for Floyd Benjamin Thompson, 80, were held Friday, August 5, 1988 from Bold Springs Cemetery, with the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Mr. Thompson died Aug. 3 in Methodist Hospital in Houston. He was born July 31, 1908 in Tulsa, Okla., the son of James Sullivan Thompson and Florence Lillie Foutch Thompson. He moved to Texas at a young age with his parents from Oklahoma and was reared and attended school in Galveston. Mr. Thompson lived in Texas most of his adult life, living in Pearland for 25 years from 1953 until 1978, when he moved to Polk County. Mr. Thompson worked most of his life as a self-employed carpenter. After retiring he moved to Polk County and worked for the Polk County Solid Waste Department for five years. In November, 1932 he married the former Ruby Pearl VanWinkle in Phoenix, Ariz. To this marriage four children were born, all of whom survive. Mrs. Thompson preceded him in death in 1942. He was also preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters. Survivors include one son, Bill Thompson of Dallas; three daughters, Jean Thompson of Houston, Dorothy Carie of Alvin and Faye Agurrie of Livingston; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Tomme, 77, were held Feb. 23 from the chapel of the Pace Funeral Home with the Rev. C. L. Moore officiating, assisted by Rev. Frank Hood. Interment followed at Bold Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers were S. C. Sheffield, E. E. Sheffield, Leroy Melance, Onran Tomme, Raymond Sims, and James C. Moore. Mrs. Tomme was born February 27, 1900 in Bold Springs. She died Feb. 22. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Dunnam of Bold Springs. She attended the then available public schools. Mrs. Tomme married Cochran Tomme on August 6, 1966. At the time of her death, she was living in Livingston. Mrs. Tomme operated a millinery shop specializing in ladies hats for many years. After her retirement she worked as a cashier. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include: her husband, Cochran Tomme of Livingston and a host of other relatives and friends. Tomme, W. C. L. Moore and Bro. Frank Hood officiated. Tomme died Dec. 12 in Livingston Memorial Hospital. A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late John Henry and Rhoda Catherine (Wright) Moore. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Livingston Funeral Home Chapel. Services are set for 1 p.m. Sunday at the chapel with the Rev.
