Geneva Holleman

Obituary published in the Polk County Enterprise - May 6, 1976 Edition

LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Geneva Holleman, 86, were held at the Pace

Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday afternoon, May 5, with the Rev. C. L. Moore

officiating. Burial was in the Forest Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Holleman was born the daughter of Spencer and America Poe Isbell Glasscock

on Jan 4, 1890 near Mt. Enterprise in Rusk County. She died May 4.

Mrs. Holleman was reared in Rusk County and attended the schools there. In 1905,

she was married to N. M. Holleman at Mt. Enterprise. They had five children, three

survive. In 1923 the family moved to Polk County and settled in the East Tempe

community. In 1926 the family moved to Livingston and the children were reared in

the Livingston Community. Mrs. Holleman was a member of the First Baptist Church

of Livingston. Survivors include two sons, Alton Lester Holleman of Livingston and

John Spencer Holleman of Livingston; two daughters, Mrs. Lavern O’Neill of Livingston

and Mrs. Dorothy Burnett of Lufkin; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Robert Archie Hopson

LIVINGSTON – A memorial service for Robert Archie Hopson, 25, of Livingston

was held Sunday, September 3, 2006, in the Pace Funeral Home Chapel, with the

Rev. Gary Wright officiating.

He was born Aug. 30, 1908 in Huntsville and died Monday, August 28, 2006 at his

residence.

He enjoyed riding three-wheelers and horses, going fishing and loved his job as a

mechanic. He was known as a loving father and son. He was known as a loving

father and son. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hopson Sr. and brothers,

Chance Axton Hopson and Jason Gene Hopson.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara Hopson and friend David; daughters, Haylee

Elizabeth Hopson and Lexie Grace Louise Hopson; son Nathan Alexander Hopson and

friend, Rick, his boss.

Alice Nell Bean Horany

WICHITA FALLS - Alice Nell Bean Horany died on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002.
Services were held Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at University United Methodist Church,

with the Rev. Ken Hildebrand officiating. Burial was in Crestview Memorial Park

under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
She was the daughter of the late Kenneth H. and Allie Bean of Livingston. She was

born Feb. 10, 1926 and was a graduate of Livingston High School. She attended the

University of Houston, where she completed her training as a registered nurse. While

in Houston, she met and later married, on Jan. 30, 1948, Archer County resident

Melvin Horany, who was attending medical school at the Baylor College of Medicine.

After completing his residency training, they returned to Archer City in 1950 and

subsequently moved to Wichita Falls in 1957, where she was a homemaker and raised

their family of five children.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Kenneth, Ed and George Bean;

sisters, Betty Sue Bean and Jerutia Hairston; and her son, David Lee Horany, who died

on June 9, 1997.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Horany, M.D. of Wichita Falls; son, Melvin K.

and wife Jeanie, also of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Alice Christine Seligson and

husband Robert of Arlington and Mary Carol of Houston; and a son, John Kenneth of

Dallas. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Ann Rushing of Livingston; and

grandchildren, Melissa Horany Whitmer and husband Jim of Denton, Stacy Amber

Horany of New Orleans, La., Melvin K. Horany of Wichita Falls, Sarah Seligson

Sprague and husband Sion of San Diego, Calif., Alyce Rachel Seligson and Benjamin

Ike Seligson of Arlington. She is also survived by a host of other family members and

friends.
Mrs. Horany was a long time member of University United Methodist Church, where

she was active in the United Methodist Women, Crusaders Class, and former president

of the YWCA.

Richard Hubert

LIVINGSTON – Richard “Dick” Hubert, 72, of Livingston, former Polk County

commissioner and businessman, died on Sunday, June 12, 2005, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 15, in the Cochran Funeral Home

Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Hood and the Rev. Harold Isaacs officiating. Burial

followed in Restland Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Hubert was born Dec. 18, 1932 in Livingston, the son of J.R. and Verda T.

Stephenson Hubert, both of whom preceded him in death.
A long-time auctioneer, he worked at the Livingston Livestock Exchange,

Kirbyville Livestock Auction and Woodville Auction Barn, as well as serving as

auctioneer for the Trinity-Neches, San Jacinto County and Groveton live-stock

shows. He also provided his services for the Onalaska Fire Department, various

churches and service organization fundraisers. Mr. Hubert also served as

the announcer for the Polk County Youth Rodeo and Trinity-Neches Rodeo. He

was involved in numerous businesses over the years, including Dick’s Western Store,

Livingston Livestock Exchange, Huntsville Auction Barn, Woodville Auction Barn,

Dick’s Grocery and Market, Town & Country Real Estate, Dick’s Western World,

Airport Quick Stop, Dick Hubert Advertising, Dick’s Feed & Supply and Dick

Hubert Auction Co.
He was appointed Precinct 4 county commissioner in April of 1990 and continued

to serve until his retirement in December 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Hubert of Livingston; daughter and son-in-law,

Rhonda and Chester Barton of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and

Martha Hubert of Livingston; step-daughters, Janet Rovinelli of Livingston,

Elaine Bowen of Livingston, Elizabeth Scott of Kountze and Mary Aubrey of

Livingston; stepsons, David Aubrey of Lamos, N.M., James Aubrey of Livingston,

John Aubrey of San Francisco, Calif. and Charles Aubrey of Livingston;

granddaughters, Jessica Stokley of Livingston and Candra Hubert of Onalaska;

grandson, David Barton of Livingston; numerous step-grandchildren and great-

Janet Sue Haynes Jackson
Graveside services were held Friday, January 2, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. for Janet Sue Jackson, 58, of Livingston, in Katy Magnolia Cemetery in Katy, with the Rev. Tom Bolin officiating.
She was born November 12, 1950 in Livingston, the daughter of Kenneth Eugene and Eva Louise Nimitz Haynes.
She died on Friday, December 26, 2008, at her residence. Her parents; sister, Carolyn Burnet; and brother, Kenneth Eugene Haynes Jr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sister, Peggy Kenneth and husband, James, of Livingston; niece, Misty Ganzer of Denver, Colorado; nephew, Duke Kennedy of Oakhurst; brother-in-law, Johnny Burnet of The Woodlands;  niece, Melissa Sowell of The Woodlands;  her uncle, Gerald Haynes of Houston; and aunt, Billie Jean Tierney of Willis.

LIVINGSTON -- Jeff Johnson, 19, of Livingston died on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in Houston. A celebration of his life was held from 1 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 4, in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Sam Cannady officiating. He was born Sept. 22, 1988 in Livingston, to parents Kevin and Patti Cannady. He was a crew leader for Clean Ceiling Plus. He is survived by his parents; his brothers, Kristopher Scifres and wife Cassie, Steven Shane Scifres and wife Jackie, Matthew Cannady and Kevin Cannady Jr.; grandparents, Shirley Johnson and Ruth and Frank O’Neil; greatgrandparent, Hattie Watson; niece, Kylie Scifres and nephew, Caydon Scifres. HEMPHILL – Avis Evelyn Laramore died on April 9, 2004 in Hemphill.
She was born May 24, 1908 in Livingston and was 95 years old at the time of her

death. She lived most of her life in Goodrich and was preceded in death by her

parents, Rachel and Griffin Lowe; her husband, Albert Laramore and her brother,

Lloyd Lowe. She is survived by two sons, Neil Laramore and Ben Laramore, both

of Falmount; one brother, Clinton Lowe of Livingston; her sister, Madie Mullins

of Kilgore; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, April 12, in Fairdale Baptist Church near

Hemphill, with interment following in Peebles Cemetery near Livingston.

LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Johnnie Mae LaRoe, 96, were held Sunday,

July 30, 2006, in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, Livingston, with Bro. Hosea

and Bro. Larry Byrd officiating. Burial followed in Peebles Cemetery.

Mrs. Laroe died Friday, July 28, in Memorial Medical Center, Livingston.

She was born May 18, 1910 in Leggett, the daughter of John and Catherine Tullos

McCormick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack LaRoe; her parents;

son, Sammy LaRoe; brothers, Lon McCormick and Will McCormick and sisters,

Nola Buller and Ruth Marsh.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Frances and James Corder of

Deer Park; granddaughter and husband, Cathey and Jim McLean; granddaughter,

Carol Chambers; great-grandsons, Conner McLean, Kevin McLean, Hayden Chambers

and Chase Chambers; sisters, Emily Jane Walters of Goodrich and Ethel Gregory of

Dallas and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

RISING STAR – Rachel Marsh, 85, of Cisco died on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, in Rising Star

Nursing Center. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Oct. 26, in Holhousen-Darby Cemetery in Moscow, with Robert Jones officiating. Higginbotham Funeral Home of Rising Star was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Marsh was born Sept. 16, 1919 in Tyler County to Calvin and Mae Davis Jackson. She married Herman “J.H.” Marsh in 1936. She was a Baptist. She lived in the Rising Star community for three months. Before coming to Rising Star, she lived in Cisco. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Madison and her husband Dean of Cisco; son, Ron and his wife Gloria Marsh of Tyler; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman “J.H.” Marsh; daughter, Bobbie Moody; four sisters.

CORRIGAN -- Graveside services for Emmie Marie Marsh, 90, of Magnolia were held

Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, in Stryker Cemetery, with the Rev. Doug Young officiating.

Interment followed the graveside service.
Mrs. Marsh was born June 22, 1911 in Moscow and died Tuesday morning, Nov. 13,

in Guardian Angels Nursing Care Center in Magnolia.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tomball. She was preceded in death

by her husband, Lynn Lee "Buddy" Marsh.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Kay Marsh of Magnolia;

grandchildren, Kevin Marsh, Perri Tischnor, Dorrian Marsh and Karin Aragian; and

four great-granddaughters.

KINGSLAND - Funeral services for Margaret P. Marsh, 71, of Kingsland were held Monday, Sept. 1, 1986 from the First Baptist Church of Kingsland. The Rev. Jim Franklin officiated and interment followed in Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.

Mrs. Marsh died August 30, 1986.

A retired school teacher, Mrs. Marsh taught in the Pasadena ISD as well as in Bold Springs in Polk County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsland and the DAR.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Marsh of Kingsland; two sons, Ralph David and his wife, Mary Marsh of Houston, and William R. Marsh of Kingsland; two daughters, Mrs. George (Jane) Overmyer of Burnet, and Mrs. Cynthia Anne Gilbert of Houston; three brothers, Bobb and Mann Pinkston of Houston; two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were George Overmyer, Dan Robinson, John Stellick, Harry Jones, B. R. Marsh and Floyd Marsh.

Ralph Henry Marsh

RALPH HENRY MARSH was born May 4, 1914 in Bold Springs, Texas and died

December 31, 2000 in Burnet, Texas. He was born to Roy and Cora Marsh. He

was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret Pinkston Marsh and his son Ralph

David Marsh . He is survived by his wife Edith Brown Marsh , son Bill Marsh ,

daughters Jane Overmyer and Cindy Carter, daughter-in-law Mary Marsh , step-

son Michael Brown, step-daughter Karen Riedel, three granddaughters, one great

granddaughter and many loving relatives. Ralph received his Bachelors Degree

from Stephen F. Austin College and his Masters Degree from Sul Ross University.

He was very active in the Baptist Church having served as a Deacon and Men's

Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years. He was an active member of the

Masonic Lodge having held many offices. He was a loving husband and father

and a good friend to many in every community in which he lived. Funeral Service

will be held for Mr. Marsh at the First Baptist Church, January 4, 2001 at 2:00 P.M.

Burial will be at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
Ronald Marsh

DUNCANVILLE – Ronald Keith Marsh of Desoto died on June 5, 2006.
He was born July 26, 1943 in Camden to James Herman and Annie Rachel Jackson

Marsh. Raised in Moscow, he attended and graduated from school in Corrigan. An

army veteran, he went on to a career, owning his own petroleum exploration company.

He married Gloria LaTouf in 1964.
Along with his wife of 42 years, Gloria LaTouf Marsh, he is survived by his daughter,

Lisa Burleson and husband Greg; grandson, Peter Qiang Burleson and sisters, Jackie

Ann Madison and husband Dean and Marsha Ann Hill and husband John. A sister,

Bobbie Jean Moody, preceded him in death.
A graveside service was held Thursday, June 8, at Holhausen-Darby Cemetery in

Moscow. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.

Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720.

LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Bro. Calobe “C. L.” Moore of Leggett were

held Saturday, April 17, 1993, from Bethel Baptist Church in Bold Springs, with

Bro. Frank Hood officiating, assisted by Harold Isaacs, Frank Aragon, Johnny

Buller, Ervin Stewart and Bryan Dickens. Interment followed in Crossroads

Cemetery in Leggett.

Mr. Moore died April 14 at his residence in Leggett.

He was born September 24, 1899 in East Tempe, the son of William Cyrus

Moore and Carrie Burks Moore. He married the former Clara Eaton on

August 11, 1946. She was the daughter of Elijah Webb and Emma Louise Watson

Eaton. Mr. Moore pastured in Polk, San Jacinto, Hardin and Tyler Counties. He

was pastor of Bethel Baptist Church for 44 years and ministered for over 60 years.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, John Hoyt Isaacs.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Eaton Moore; two daughters, Gracie and

husband Frank Hood and Judy and husband, Harold Isaacs; nine grandchildren,

Melody Aragin and husband Frank, Cindy Sheffield and husband John, Mary Booth

and husband Paul Andy Hood, Bobby Isaacs and wife Donna, Sam Eaton and

husband Mark, Darla Attaway and husband Dwight, Jason Wayne Stephens and

his namesake, Calobe Reed Isaacs; 12 great-grandchildren and a host of other

relatives and dear friends.

Pallbearers were Bobby Claude Isaacs, Jason Stephens, John Sheffield, Paul

Booth, Dwight Attaway, Andy Hood, Calobe Isaacs and Frank Anthony Aragon.

Honorary pallbearers were R. H. “Tub” Rogers, Roland Wilder, Nolan Watts,

M. C. Morris, Charles Clark, Kenneth Baker, Doug Hand, Clay Lawrence, David

Chalker and Earl Abbott.

Allie Frances Courtney Mosher

LIVINGSTON - Allie Frances Mosher, 91, was born in New Willard, Texas, July 29, 1917 and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 20, 2009.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Helen Meece Courtney;

She is survived by her daughters; Connie May Mosher, Leslie Dawn Gupton, Helen Gail Gabel and husband Jack, brother, Dawson Emmit Courtney and wife Ruth, sister, Ruby Mae Eckels, grandchildren; Clifford and Benjamin Gupton, and Venessa Wier and great grandchildren, Gage Ortego and Wyatt Wier-Gonzales.

Funeral services were Wednesday, June 24, 2009, 2:00 pm at Pace Funeral Home with Pastor Royce Pennington officiating. Interment followed at Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas.
Clarence “Punk” Parrish

CORRIGAN – Funeral services for Clarence C. “Punk” Parrish, 79, of Corrigan

were held Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, in the First Baptist Church of Corrigan, with

Pastor Curtis Jordan and Pastor Ricky Ricks officiating. Interment followed in

Union Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Parrish was born June 21, 1926 in Leggett and died on Wednesday, Nov. 30,

in a Lufkin hospital.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Corrigan and

Livingston VFW Post 8568. He and his wife, Ruth, owned Parrish Lumber Co. for

53 years. Mr. Parrish served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany

and has been a director of Citizens State Bank in Corrigan since February of 1989.

He had a passion for hunting, raising cows and running heavy equipment.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Watson Parrish of Corrigan; daughter

and son-in-law, Annette and Phil DeLaFosse of Woodlake; grandchildren and

spouses, Amanda and Warner Camp of Diboll and Carrie and Blake Dykes of Wood-

lake; great-grandchild, Walker Camp of Diboll; brother and sister-in-law, Boyce and

Jean Parrish of Leggett; sister, Bera Mae Hayes of Garland and uncle and aunt,

Richard Edwin and Carolyn Abercrombie of Livingston.

Pallbearers were Chris Hubbard, Denman Ray “Trey” Watson III, Daniel Reid

“Cricket” Watson, Johnny Don Watson, Charles Parrish and Michael Parrish.

Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at Lakeway Baptist Church in Carlisle with Bro.

Cemetery in Onalaska. Mrs. Pogue died Sunday, September 17, 2006, at her residence

in Carlisle. She was born June 17, 1917 in Polk County. She was the mother of Melva Y. Whitehead and Jimmie A. Yates. She married Daniel M. Pogue in 1957. She was known

as someone who mastered life’s great lesson by being an enthusiastic participant. She was

known as Grannie Ma to her three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-

great-grandchild.

She was a charter member of Lakeway Baptist Church in Carlisle, where she served as

church treasurer and a children’s Sunday school teacher for many years. She was known

as someone who always found humor in life; who loved her church, family and working in

her garden and with her cows; and who brought many adults and children to know the

Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Berry W. Walker and Emma Lou Walker;

her husband, Dan Pogue; her son, Jimmie A. Yates; brothers, Raby Walker and Ben Lewis Walker; sisters, Minnie Walker Kremer and Pearl Walker Graef and great-grandson,

Will H. Whitehead. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Melva Y. and Willie H. Whitehead of Colleyville; grandsons, Bruce H. Whitehead and wife Courtney of Dallas and

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – Judith Ann Shaw, 66, died on Oct. 26, 2007, following

a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family.
She was born Feb. 20, 1941 in Herrington, Kan. to William Barrett (deceased) and Dorothy Rickel Barrett. She moved to Colorado Springs in 1955.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Richard; her daughter, Lori; mother, Dorothy Wright, formerly of Leggett; grandchildren, Matthew, Lindsey and Benjamin; aunt,

Jeannine McConiga; cousins and sisters and brothers-in-law.
Mrs. Shaw worked as an accountant for several firms all her adult life. She enjoyed

reading, decorating, gardening, puzzles, playing bridge and spending time with her

family. A memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 3 at Fairview Cemetery.

Johnie Standley

Johnie Benjamin Standley, 85, of Chester, passed away, Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at

Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14 at 10 a.m. at Riley Funeral Home in

Woodville with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chester. Officiating will be Brother

Larry Trest. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Bo Standley, George Standley,

Ben Standley, Bit Standley, Tom Neal and Jake Flowers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 13 from 5 – 8 at the funeral home.
Johnie was born in Onalaska on March 23, 1920 to Higia Snow and Sylvester McCarty

Standley.
He married the love of his life, Eunice Lorraine Henderson on January 12, 1941 in

Corrigan. Also, in 1941, he was drafted into the Army during WWII. He was stationed

in New Guinea, Philippines and Australia for almost 4 years. He received a medal with

3 bronze stars in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign and Good Conduct Medal and

in the Philippines Liberation a ribbon with Bronze Star. He was a faithful member of

Enon Baptist Church in Chester where he taught Sunday School for a number of years.
He owned and operated a few sawmills and worked as a sawyer. Upon retirement he

raised cows and baled hay. He loved to hunt deer with dogs, many times just to hear

the dogs run.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and one brother.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eunice Lorraine Standley of Chester; sons and

daughters-in-law, Billy John and Wanda Standley of Chester and Gene and Joyce

Mullins of Baytown; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Wilburn Neal and Sue

and Dale Flowers all of Chester; 17 grandchildren, Ashley Bettes, Cassie Flowers,

Courtney Fann, Jake Flowers, Donna Parks, Lisa Johnson, Cindy Grimes, Tom Neal,

Bo Standley, George Standley, Ben Standley, Bit Standley, Billy Gilbert, Steve Dickson,

Jeff Mullins, Gena Diamond and Stacy Baird; and 21 great grandchildren.
To some he was known as ‘Kucker’ and others ‘Pawpaw’. He had a gift of making people

laugh. He loved his family and his family loved him. He was the greatest Daddy and

‘Pawpaw’ anyone could ask for. He will be greatly missed.

Services will be under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Alfred Daniel "Junior" Sumrall Jr.

LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Alfred Daniel "Junior" Sumrall Jr., 82, were

held Wednesday,

Dec. 17, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Bryan Dickens

officiating. Burial followed in Menard Chapel Cemetery in Polk County.
Mr. Sumrall died Monday, Dec. 15, at his residence in Livingston.
He was born Nov. 1, 1921 in Rye to Alfred Daniel and Jewel Blankenship Sumrall.

He married Evelyn {Buller} Coker Sumrall on June 23, 1976 and they had many happy

years together. Illness left him homebound, with his wife serving as caregiver, making

him happy and comfortable. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tommy;

and stepdaughter and son-in-law, Barbara Coker Astleford and Seldon C. Astleford.
Mr. Sumrall retired from Exxon after 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of

World War II and a long-time member of the Exxon Club of East Texas, which he helped

organize. He was a Baptist by faith and loved going to church until ill health kept him

home. The church family kept him in their prayers and visited when they could.
He is survived by his wife of 27 and a half years, Evelyn Sumrall; son and wife, Eldon D.

and Diane Sumrall of Crockett; daughter and husband, Jewell and Billy Collins of

Livingston, stepdaughter and husband, Rebecca and Terry Browning of Houston; stepson

and wife, Lloyd and Lori Coker of Livingston; stepson and wife, John and Rose Coker of

California; sister, Lorena Jones of Houston; two brothers, Eldon A. Sumrall of Plano and

James and wife Gerena Sumrall of Henderson; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;

one great-great-grand-child; seven step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Pete Tolar, Kenny Tolar, Michael Tolar, Jerry Wiggins, Shane

Tolar and Todd Tolar. Honorary pallbearers were Blackie Bourge, John Lorenz,

LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Emily Jane Walters, 91, will be held at

1 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007 in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.

Mrs. Walters died Wednesday, June 6, at her residence in Goodrich.

She was born May 12, 1916 in Leggett, the daughter of John and Catherine Tullos

McCormick. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clemon L. Walter;

son, John Clemon Walters; daughter, Lana Catherine Walters-Leggett; brothers,

Lon McCormick and Will McCormick and sisters, Nola Buller, Ruth Marsh, Johnnie

Mae LaRoe and Ethel Gregory.

Survivors include her son-in-law, Jack Leggett and wife, Madelyn of Orangefield;

grandsons, Mark Leggett and wife Helen of Nederland, John Walters and James Scott

Walters; granddaughters, Cathey Leggett Treibel and husband Larry of Humble and

Jane Walters; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mark Leggett, John Walters, Dr. Ray Perez, James Corder, Jack

Leggett, Dr. David Gregory and Larry Treibel.

"Goodrich Gadabout"

......I am very sad to have to report that we have lost another member of our community

with the death of Emily Jane Walters. We have truly lost a supporter of our community.

I never remember a time when Emily Jane didn't want the best for this community and

she didn't mind telling everyone that very fact! Goodrich was very lucky to have Emily

Jane and her sister Johnnie Mae. Both of these ladies were fun to be around; neither was

ever shy in letting you know how they felt about something and both were very strong

minded ladies.

As often is with sisters one always seems to be a little more colorful in attitude than the

other (sort of like two other sisters I know very well). I personally think Emily Jane was

that one in her family. Even in the recent weeks with her ill health, she never quit making those jokes, surprising everyone with something she had to say. Our community has lost

both of those fine ladies (sisters) in a short time and while we are all saddened, this

community will never be quite the same without Emily Jane Walters and Johnnie Mae

LaRoe. But I can bet you that these two ladies will still be looking out for their friends

and their community......
Annie Wheeler

TRINITY – Services for Annie Mae Yates Wheeler, 76, of Trinity were held at 1 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, in the Trinity Fellowship Church with the Rev. D.R.

McNaughton and the Rev. John Odom officiating.

Burial followed in the Moss Hill Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Morgan officiating.

Mrs. Wheeler died Thursday, Dec. 29.

She was born Dec. 16, 1929, in the Kickapoo community of Polk County, the

daughter of Claude and Lillian Yates. She was a graduate of Trinity High School

and had resided for most of her life in Trinity.

Mrs. Wheeler was a member of the Trinity Fellowship Church.

Survivors include her husband, James Wheeler of Trinity; two sons and their

spouses, Joe Nathan and Mary Ann Wheeler and Kevin Raymond and Holly

Wheeler; five daughters and their spouses, Rita Ann and Tommy Pearson,

Sharon Lynn Snider, Janita Gay and Jerry Rives, Marynn and Jimmie Carrico Jr.

and Glynis and Charles Snyder; a brother and his spouse, Kenneth and Sherry

Yates; a sister-in-law and her spouse, Pauline and L.E. Reynolds; 25 grand-

children; 22 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Waller-Thornton Funeral Home directed the arrangements.
