SILENT LETTERS
The following letters may be silent in the pronunciation of some words: l, n, p, r, s, t, w.
In most cases their silence depends on their relationship to the letters that surround them, and their position in the word itself.
Rules are given where possible with the examples below:

«l» is often silent before the letters «f», «d», «k» and «m» at the end of a word: half, calf, behalf / should, could, would / talk, stalk, yolk, chalk, walk, folk / palm, calm
