Media is highly influential source of information recent decades through providing both national and international news. However, the importance of these two types of news is questionable raising the argument whether local one is more important or the one happening overseas. Although international news is much likely to help in the process of form ideas through understanding intersecting issues rather than relying on only limited sources, I believe national news is quite primary as it gives an insightful account of political, social and economic changes of a certain place directly affecting locals there.

Since last few decades, reading foreign news sources is an excellent way to increase cultural competence to connect events to track the causes and consequences of a certain political decision. Since changes in one country will often trigger in another, reading only domestic news may not explain details of issues such as trade agreements, monetary and pricing policies affected by events happening outside of a country. A clear example could be the recently started special military operation of Russia leading the raising the prices of some products made in that country to increase sharply in some collaborating countries.

On the other hand, actions to raise public awareness of the events occurring in the residential area is not an option but a necessity. The necessity is met through the assistance of media, mainly domestic news as it is core part of disseminating information publicly. To be more precise, daily news plays a vital role in urging local citizens to keep up with the lastest news preventing further misunderstandings and complications caused by the dynamic flow of changes in the policy and regulations. For instance, in recent news, the Healthcare Centre in my country has announced prohibitions on the sale and consumption of certain durgs that were in public use.

In conclusion, notwithstanding the importance of global news in understanding globally interdependent affairs, I approve that the role of national news is much higher in the lives of local community as it saves inhabitants from different unexpected sociopolitical and economic changes.
