Positioning Sensitive Issues in the Light of Evidence Improves Teachers’ Acceptance, Hazaribag District (from Ragini Pasricha, Vistaar Project, New Delhi)

Trainers from Vistaar's state-based partner expressed concerns about teachers’ comfort levels when they pre-tested their LSE curriculum. However, by drawing teachers' attention to evidence on issues like rampant under-age marriages, risk factors for adolescents during pregnancy and childbirth, and high mortality figures, they were convinced. This experience shows that positioning sensitive issues in the light of evidence makes it easier to gain teachers’ confidence.
