4 Talibs in Toyota taxi ambush pickup truck carrying 3 persons working for the Afghan NGO, Voluntary Assoc. For Rehabilitation of Afghanistan (VARA), killing engineer and injuring driver who later died in a US military hospital. Taliban's Mullah Abdul Samad admit the assault. On Sept. 27th, Kandahar gov't made 2 arrests.

6 Pak. Intelligence officers followed 2 persons for a couple days, then pounced on them while they were on an Internet terminal at a cafe. Arrested/abducted the two as 'Al Qaeda suspects.' One is a Yemeni, Khalid Ahmed, the other an Afghan. Witnesses reported both were beaten up by Pak. Plainclothesmen.

According to 'senior Afghan military commander, Abdul Achakzai' the fighting in Dai Chopan resulted in death of Taliban commander Mullah Abdul Razzaq Nafees. Taliban say they lost contact with him ~ Sept. 24th. Nafees was a member of the 10 person Taliban central shura.

10 Talibs in 2 cars ambush military governor's vehicle carrying soldiers, killing 7, destroying vehicle. But, Helmand governor, Sher Mohammad Akhundzada was not in vehicle. US troops had searched Sangeen district in April 2003, trying to capture/kill Mullahs Dadullah and Akhtar Mohammad.
