4.4.1.3. Adequate awareness raising activities and prevention have been integrated in the overall programme.

As demonstrated in the above, all counterparts are involved in awareness raising activities. The evaluators experienced (through focus group discussions, interviews with staff, participatory observation and internal evaluation reports) that the generalist organisations play an important role in awareness raising and prevention seen the fact that (1) they reach out populations that AIDS focussed organisations and/or health service providers almost do not reach (especially in India) and (2) they transfer the HIV/AIDS messages through an other entry point. In that way these organisations can challenge HIV/AIDS fatigue of their constituencies (especially in Southern Africa).
