Contributions in this area were discussed jointly with MPEG Requirements, MPEG Video, and VCEG.
The WG 11 parent body had several input contributions considering requirements issues for HEVC in relation to interlaced video content. These included WG 11 contributions m29176, m29210, m29366, m29445, m29486, and m28500 – none of which were registered as JCT-VC contributions. There are alternative approaches to specifying coding features specifically for interlaced video coding, such as pre-encode de-interlacing. WG 11 plans to continue study of the topic toward potential identification of sufficient evidence for action.
