Duties


We are seeking a talented and motivated Executive Officer to assist the Group Executive and General Managers of the Business Solutions Group.
The Business Solutions Group comprises programs that lead the Bureau's engagement and delivery to our customers in five priority sectors: Agriculture; Aviation, Land & Maritime Transport; Energy & Resources; National Security; and Water.
The position will focus on ensuring that the Group works efficiently and effectively, enacting strategy through governance, coordination, management and engagement with other business areas.
The successful applicant will possess strong governance, communication, interpersonal, project management and leadership skills, with an emphasis on working collaboratively across the Bureau to achieve best whole-of-enterprise outcomes.
You will work closely with the Group Executive Business (SES Band 2) to provide high level strategic advice and support to the Group’s Senior Leadership Team, by leading and managing the support teams which reside in the Corporate Group, and engaging with key areas in the Bureau that enable the Group to deliver outcomes. Key activities of the Group include internal stakeholder liaison and coordination and support of the Group’s planning and management in areas of strategy, operation, finance, governance, project management and administration.
Significant management experience in leading and managing a revenue-focused service function, delivering on complex projects or programs, financial and contract management, and a sound understanding of government processes and decision- making are all advantages.

Duties


This position would suit an applicant with outstanding communication skills, who has a high degree of initiative and who has experience establishing strong working relationships with stakeholders and project team members, employing a consultative and influencing approach. To be successful, you will be experienced in project management methods and processes including planning; risk and issue management; scope control; progress tracking; budgeting; and reporting. The occupant will be involved in various aspects of the planning, designing, development and management of water information products and will lead and contribute at a senior level to strategic and operational planning for delivery of water program services to meet the Bureau strategic objectives.
Our ideal candidate is a person who thrives in a team-based workplace, is dedicated to achieving outcomes using effective and efficient methods and understands how to tailor processes based on each project’s characteristics to ensure the right level of supervision. The candidate will have a passion for water information, be enthusiastic about developing their skills, operate effectively in high performing teams, be able to communicate clearly with a range of people, be service delivery focused and be advanced in project management skills.

Eligibility


  1. A degree or diploma of an Australian educational institution, or a comparable overseas qualification, which is appropriate to the duties; OR

  2. Eligibility for graduate membership of, or registration by, a professional body, which is appropriate to the duties to be performed AND a graduate diploma in Librarianship of an Australian institution, or a comparable overseas qualification which is appropriate to the duties to be performed; OR

  3. Other comparable qualifications, which are appropriate to the duties.

Qualifications admitting to membership of the Australian Institute of Project Management are very desirable. PRINCE2 certifications will be highly regarded as well, while experience with Agile software delivery methods will be considered an advantage.
