Duties


The National Capital Authority (NCA) is seeking a motivated person with highly developed communication, urban design and research skills.
Under broad direction the successful applicant will:

  1. Develop urban design concepts, programs, policies and plans, which may include urban design guidelines, master plans, public domain manuals and development control plans.

  2. Develop creative and innovative small scale urban design proposals. Prepare quality drawings and plans, both of a conceptual and technical nature.

  3. Prepare project briefs for a range of urban design and capital works projects and where required, commission and manage the work undertaken by external consultancies.

  4. Research material, prepare submissions and analyse tasks. Interpret and present technical, graphical and other related material.

  5. Liaise with government, community and industry representatives on planning and urban design matters. Represent the Authority as required, including though public participation processes.

  6. Provide specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders.

  7. Assist in managing budgets and team reporting requirements in accordance with overall NCA frameworks, the Accountable Authority Instructions and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.

  8. Participate as a constructive member of the National Capital Plan Branch and provide reasonable support with functions as required.

Eligibility


Qualifications in planning, urban design, landscape architecture or architecture are mandatory.
To be eligible to work with the NCA you must:

  • be an Australian citizen

  • be willing to undergo a medical examination if applicable

  • undertake a security assessment to the requisite standard

  • have completed the 'redundancy benefit period' if you received a redundancy benefit from an Australian Public Service (APS) agency or a non-APS Commonwealth employer.

Duties


The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting a highly motivated, experienced officer to fill the role of Business and Communications Manager within the Security Branch.
The Business and Communications Manager reports directly to the Assistant Secretary of Security and works closely with the branch leadership team and wide range of stakeholders across DPS. To succeed in this role you must have the ability to work with limited supervision and be proactive.
This position will offer opportunities to play a central role in shaping the DPS Security Branch governance documents, including the Communication Strategy, Workforce Planning and Annual Report and contribute to process improvement for the business functions within the branch.
The position holder is required to demonstrate exceptional written communication skills and will be responsible for coordinating and preparing executive briefings including Questions on Notice, Senate Estimate and executive briefs. The ability to establish, maintain and enhance stakeholder relationships, along with the promoting and cultivating innovative organisational change is imperative for the incumbent of this position. Previous experience managing budget, procurement and finance including budget forecasting and managing large scale procurement processes will be highly regarded.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
