Duties


The Senior Personnel Security Advisor plays a key role in the team responsible for ensuring the suitability of staff for employment with the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) and the ongoing suitability of staff currently employed by the ACIC. The occupant of this position is required to liaise, engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as well as provide high level advice regarding critical issues with the potential to impact the ACIC and its operations.
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex relationships with existing and prospective ACIC staff are key skills required in this position. Additionally, the identification, development and implementation of innovative systems to support more streamlined employment screening and security clearance processes is an important focus.
The position requires its occupant to demonstrate the highest levels of integrity, professionalism and impartiality in carrying out his/her duties.

Eligibility


This is a position of trust. The occupant must satisfy and abide by the Commission’s security requirements, which include Australian citizenship. The occupant must also satisfy a rigorous security assessment by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency and is required to gain and maintain an NV1 clearance. In assessing suitability for employment the ACIC conducts a pre-employment screening process. This requires the applicant to complete a pre-employment screening form for the purpose of character and background checking, and a psychological assessment.

Duties


The Examinations Registrar/Examinations Legal Officer (ER/ELO) role provides legal support services to the Legal Services Unit, in particular by maintaining the Examinations Registry. The ER/ELO is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Examinations Registry and for legal compliance and the administrative aspects associated with the issuing of coercive summonses and notices under the Australian Crime Commission Act 2002 (the ACC Act).
The ER/ELO works closely with senior lawyers, investigators and ACIC Examiners. If the successful candidate is admitted as a lawyer the role will also include the provision of legal advice around the execution of coercive powers and general legal advice regarding the ACIC functions.

Eligibility

Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term
This process will be used to fill both Ongoing & Non-Ongoing positions. Non-Ongoing positions will be offered for a period of up to 12 months with possibility of extension.
