4.2.1 Integration of Services 
One of the major advantages of FTTH network is integration of services. All the services 
like fast Internet connection, video on demand, HDTV services, ordinary phone lines or

any other service can be integrated together and made available from a single box (OLT) 
connected to a single fiber at the other end.
4.2.2 QoS (Quality of Service) 
The bandwidth available in FTTH network is tremendous so the QoS is much better. It 
suits all the real time and interactive applications like voice, video or any other 
interactive applications because of the bandwidth available. Different technologies 
available to ensure QoS like RSVP (resource reservation protocol), MPLS (MultiProtocol 
Label Switching) can also be implemented in a FTTH network. It is comparatively easier 
to maintain desired QoS as per the SLAs (Service Level Agreements) in FTTH network 
because of available bandwidth.
4.2.3 Interactive Services 
Interactive services that require real broadband connection all the time like 
videoconferencing, video on demand, interactive gaming, virtual class room and other 
services can be available in a better way with FTTH network. These all services require a 
real broadband connection that maintains a certain QoS all the times.
4.2.4 Economical 
As the cost per bit on fiber is comparatively less so it is expected that the services 
available through FTTH network will be very cheap. Even currently wherever these 
services are available these are available at much cheaper prices. As soon as the 
technology becomes common and widely accepted it is expected that the prices will fall 
further.
4.2.5 All Time Availability 
Services offered by FTTH connection are available all the time as the connection is all 
the time ON connection. Any time you want to enjoy a service, may it be high-speed 
Internet access, interactive TV or any other service you don’t have to wait and setup the 
connection.
