Moment of silence

The REVP requested that the names of everyone who died be read. He emphasized the fact that working conditions are increasingly stressful as a result of budget cuts, which would explain why some union members have gone off on sick leave or even died in some cases.

Opening, review and adoption of the proposed agenda

The REVP began proceedings after the moment of silence. He provided practical details for the day, i.e., break times, meal times and where the refreshment areas are located.

There were 51 delegates, 6 observers and 5 staff members. The Credentials Committee report was adopted following a motion by Sandra DiGnagbo.
The REVP pointed out that all activity reports put to a vote that day are available online at the union’s website at http://www.psac-ncr.com A discussion on the registration process was planned for the end of the day.
The agenda was adopted (Jocelyne Bordage, Patrice Rémillard).
The REVP wished everyone a Happy New Year but added that he was not in a festive mood. The government is doing everything it can to restrict the latitude of public services in order to make citizens unhappy with public service workers. These workers would then be replaced by private companies in order to produce savings. The REVP then cited the Parks Canada example to illustrate his point.
