NCR Regional Coordinator’s report
The coordinator went over all of the new developments in both regional offices (5 new employees and those who have left since September).
In 2013, the local development issue is front and centre. Everyone is liable to receive a call from regional representatives to discuss the situation in their locals. There were many questions and meetings workforce adjustment. The delegate network should also be developed in 2013. The creation of joint committees is being encouraged to force the employers to comply with clauses in collective agreements. The new course schedule was sent out electronically. Regional negotiations are also in place. There is a greater number of workers’ compensation cases as a result of workplace harassment.
Budget
The REVP turned over the chair to Sister Francine Stuart, and treasurer Charles Khoury presented the budget.
The REVP explained that 2010, 2011 and 2012 are behind us and serve as a reference for what lies ahead. The vote will focus on 2013, 2014 and 2015.
The Political Action budget will be allocated differently. The Regional Convention will be the most expensive item in 2014.
The REVP then fielded questions. The proposed budget was approved (Charles Khoury and Christine Griffith).
Resolutions
Two resolutions presented by the Occupational Health and Safety Committee were accepted by the REVP, because a National Occupational Health and Safety conference will be held in April. Vicki-Lynn Smith moved the first resolution, which was seconded by Shirley Taylor.
Vicki-Lynn Smith moved the second resolution, which was seconded by Denise Camus.
Both resolutions were adopted after a debate.
