AB - ABSTRACT: This work presents a detailed study of the pollen and spore distribution in the Paleocene-Eocene Lisama and La Paz Formations on the eastern border of the Middle Magdalena Valley, Colombia. One hundred and forty-seven samples obtained from cores and outcrops were prepared for palynological research, fifty-nine of which were rich in pollen and spores. Three hundred spore and pollen taxa were identified. The studied stratigraphic interval is a 2000 m thick coastal and fluvial deposit formed in a variable subsiding tectonic setting. The Lisama Formation is characterized by the dominance of the Proxapertites group. Some typical Paleocene forms start to disappear toward the upper part of the Lisama Formation (e.g. Bombacacidites annae, Ephedripites vanegensis, Retidiporites magdalenensis), and are followed by a barren interval probably linked to intense oxidation during paleosol development (the uppermost 266 m of the Lisama Formation). In the La Paz Formation there is a progressive appearance of early and middle Eocene species (e.g. Cyclusphaera scabrata, Foveotriporites hammenii, Monoporopollenites annulatus, Perfotricolpites digitatus, Spirosyncolpites spiralis, Striatopollis catatumbus, Bombacacidites gonzalezii). This biostratigraphic evidence indicates that an early--middle Eocene hiatus in the eastern area of the Middle Magdalena Valley basin is not present, as many authors have previously suggested. One new pollen genus, Foveomonoporites, and two new pollen species, Foveomonoporites variabilis and Psilamonocolpites operculatus are described and illustrated.

AB - ABSTRACT: The late Jurassic-early Cretaceous Cameros basin (Spain) has been affected by a hydrothermal metamorphism at subgreenschist facies condition (T = 340 degrees C and P = 1 kb) during an early phase of the basin inversion. This tectonothermal event, Albian-Santonian in age, contributed to the formation of tectonic structures such as slaty and pencil cleavages (S (sub 2) ) within the basin. Conversely, the slaty cleavage associated to the Pegado Anticlinal (at SE of the basin), has been generated during a second phase of the basin inversion, which occurred in the early Tertiary age. On the other hand, the scaly cleavage structures appear to be associated with a more later regional event, denominated Guadarrama Compression.

AB - ABSTRACT: The Silgara Formation that crops out in the Pescadero-Aratoca area presents a thermal structure defined by the metamorphic zones of the sillimanite, staurolite-distene, garnet and biotite. A band of approximately 120 m in width, located in the boundary between the staurolite-distene zone and garnet zone, presents a high amount of hydrothermal veins (boudinated) parallel to the regional schistosity. This fact, along with another deformation structures (isoclinal, recumbent folds, etc.), suggests the presence of an important shear band that favored the circulation of fluids, which was developed during an extensive stage, temporally associated to the exhumation of this metamorphic unit. The microthermometric studies in fluid inclusions (IF) in veins, mainly composed by quartz, let to identify six hydrothermal events that affected the Silgara Formation, during its retrograde stage. Compositionally, these paleofluids can be grouped in aqueous-salines (H (sub 2) O+NaCl) and complexes (H (sub 2) O+NaCl+CO (sub 2) +CH (sub 4) +/N (sub 2) +H (sub 2) S?).

AB - ABSTRACT: The fluorite veins located in the marginal zones of the Pescadero Pluton (Santander Massif) have been formed in an epithermal environment, during a hydrothermal event occurred in a very late stage with respect to the formation of the pluton. The microthermometric analyses in fluid inclusions have let to identify a fluid mainly composed by H (sub 2) O+NaCl+CaCl (sub 2) , with homogenization temperatures (Th) between 110 and 130 degrees C, which is responsible of the formation of these mineralizations. The presence of organic compounds, identified principally along microfractures in the fluorites, only can be explained in a fragile deformation context, where the microfractures net favored the drop of hydrocarbons generated in the overlaying Cretaceous rocks, at a late stage with respect to the formation of the fluorites.
