Wednesday a.m. plenary discussion
The overall status of SHVC work and technical contributions was discussed in plenary session on Wednesday morning. It was agreed to seek a simple solution.
Inter-layer processing and PU-level switchability were discussed. The status of consideration of M0273 was discussed.
It was asked whether we can reduce complexity relative to a straightforward HLS-only design (e.g., the "reference-index-only approach"? It seems not so much.
RefIdx vs. TextureRL was discussed.
It was agreed that our current plan is to have syntax compatibility at the EL. With decoding process compatibility also, other than inter-layer prediction (to populate the texture and MV field of the BL-converted reference picture). A few HL syntax elements to control the inter-layer processing can be considered (but not block-by-block control data).
