The aim of this contribution is to discuss the commercial requirements relative to frame-compatible formats and to propose to add, as part of the HEVC standard, previously standardized frame packing formats such as the "tile" frame packing format to guarantee service continuity and evolution. In particular the adoption of the "tile" frame packing format advocated. The contribution describes the technical aspects of this format, presents a list of industrial supporters and provides proposed text for inclusion of the format in the HEVC specification. Annex 1 presents a list of use cases for the format.

The CANB confirms its support for the outcome of the last meeting on the SEI topic. The CANB appreciates the working group's efforts in evaluating the proposed SEI messages both in light of their redundancy with existing techniques and specifications as well as on their technical relevance and merits. The CANB suggests that any new SEI messages that may be proposed be evaluated based on their technical merit and upon the quality of the proposed specification text. The CANB asserts that it is highly desirable when an SEI message is proposed, that it will be provided with corresponding software for inclusion into the reference model, which is asserted to provide an illustration as to an implementation and usability of the proposed SEI messages.
